    Hey all p310 owners,

does the p310 have an audio and 5-in-1 card slot driver support under XP x64?

With nvidia now releasing drivers for geforce go cards (also in xp x64) and intel also releasing drivers for xp x64....this would lead me to believe that these two devices are the only ones left requiring drivers.

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Ciao,

    Jonathan

Why? Vista SP1 is a great OS. There has not got to be anyone with x64 XP

yeah, I guess you are right -- there mustn't be anyone, which has installed it...I guess I was just hoping that someone had. My personal opinion is that Vista SP1 is great, but that x64 XP has been more reliable and less on resources.

    *sigh*

Just stopping to let you know that i run win xp x64 on LG p310. I installed because the laptop came wih vista home premium 32bit and 4 gigs of RAM - :)
Things to have in mind when you install a xp64 version:
    - get a dvd with xp64 that has sata drivers incorporated
    - get drivers from lgservice.com
    - get video driver from laptopvideo2go.com

it works fine. 5800 3dmarks wich is normal for this piece, if you have questions, feel free to ask.

For me, Vista 64-bit runs far better than XP 64-bit. Lot less problems, more responsive, and secure.

Okay, for anyone with a P310 and 9300M GS (Canadian version). If you want to install XP 64 here is a quick run through.

    1. The SP2 of XP 64 does not have the SATA drivers needed to boot off the disc. Unless you have a usb floppy drive, you need to download the Intel PM45 Matrix Storage Floppy Files off the Intel site for XP 64, then slipstream the drivers into your XP 64 Install Disc with nLite. It's really easy, download nLite, just follow the step by step instructions, create a new iso and burn at 4x or under. You'll never have to do this again. In fact, even XP 32 SP3 doesn't have these drivers so I had to slipstream it as well.

    2. Once XP 64 is loaded, the 9300M GS is next. The latest nVidia mobile drivers (build 179) didn't work for me, nor did the LG provided ones. I had to go back to GeForce build 175 drivers for success with the 9300M GS on the P310. Google it and you should find it. Works like a charm once you find the right one.

    3. Realtek has XP 64bit drivers on their site for the sound card. The 5100AGN Wireless card software can be downloaded off Intel. The LAN drivers work straight off the disc provided by LG.

That should get the basics up and running for an XP 64 setup on the P310. Most of the bundled LG software, like Battery Miser, Touchpad and Camera software have major issues in XP 64. If you want all these bells and whistles I recommend sticking with Vista 64 or install XP 32.

Don't forget that Direct X10 doesn't work in XP 32 or 64. So if you want DX10, your only options are Vista 64 or Windows 7 64 Beta. Personally I love windows 7, it just isn't bloated like vista and pretty much everything works. I'll be doing a Win XP 32 and Windows 7 Beta dual boot until the final Windows 7 build comes out.
