Hi, i juz bought a new LG notebook R405-S. its probably not stated in the website yet but i got this new model from a PC Show. As this is my first notebook, i found out a notebook normally will have about 2-3hrs of life on battery. During the PC Show, it was stated that this laptop have a max battery life of 4hrs. The sales promotor said maybe nt 4hrs but 3 at least.

However after i charged my battery and used it for the first time, the battery indicator stated only 1hr 20mins at 99%. I was shocked and at the same time worried as it is lesser than 2hrs. The power option is at balanced. I tried watching a few episodes of anime and time the duration from 99% and the notebook juz shut down by itself by 1hr 30mins....I decided to charged it and try changing the power option to power saver. However, the battery indicator slowly increased and still state a battery life of 2hrs 30mins. Is this normal or the battery that i received was actualli used and thrown into the package?

    G'day ....

Don't worry too much, the battery usually needs a few full chargeups before it reaches it's peak. Battery times reduce considerably, maybe half, when you are using the DVD because of the additinal load.

    G-fer.

3 hours while surfing the net/chatting/emailing.

playing games or watching movies easily cuts that in half.

When they say the 3/4 hour max battery time, that translates as 3/4 hours if you have everything set to max battery life and all you're doing is surfing the net or typing (lowest brightness, very little load, mute, etc). The screen sucks up a lot of juice and if you have anime on the harddrive maybe it is being accessed a lot as well. If you have a decent videocard you can try to find a program to underclock it. I did that to my x1600 and got an extra half hour out of the battery.
