Just bought a T1, and was wondering if the merom CPU will fit in the T1?

Merom will require a Bios upgrade to be made to the motherboard, before it will work on it. Since the T1 is a low voltage processor laptop, the replacement Merom will have to be a low voltage model as well, otherwise, the cooling system won't handle the extra heat, from the processor. Already, doubts are beginning to arise if manufaturers will bother making new Bios for their laptops, to support Merom, so i'm not to sure if it is a viable upgrade.

i have a T2400 processor, not the low voltage one. This bios issue is bugging me, because I have no idea what you are talking about. Time to do some research

many manufactors ARE indeed releasing bios updates for the merom processors HP, Acer, and Dell already have and then some laptops you wont even need to do a bios update, so the chance of compatability for the LG is very high as most manufactors will release the bios update

Thanks for the info qsimpson. Its so much better for manufacturers to release Bios upgrades, and not release whole new product lines, just for merom. Its better that way for existing Core Duo owners upgrade.

Big B, you have the T2400, sorry about the mix up.

If its a yonah, then u definitely can use merom wave one. it will fit and run the same fsb. dont worry, all the voltage mojo is already worked out. now just have to wait for the bios.
