I live in Canada and I am considering on purchasing a Laptop very soon. I already had my mind set on the Asus W7J (1.66Ghz Dual 2 Core, 1GB Memory, Nvidia Geforce Go 7400, etc.) and the price is $1800 CDN (canadian). After seeing the news about the santa rosa laptops for LG, i laid my eyes upon the white model, and the specs that they offer. I have a thing for the appearance of my laptop, therefore i laid my eyes upon the white model of the W7J which captured my interest. Since there wasnt any laptop out there that suited my needs like the W7J (some did, but looked bad, or not my taste) i actually was tempted by the LG Models that were shown, especially the shiny black ones and of course the white model as well. The keyboards looked really slick as well, and the graphic card is going to be better in every way. My question is when would they release these laptops in Canada? Anytime soon? or in the summertime? The reason is becuase i need it before the summer (July) and if they were to come out in the price range of (1600-2000)CDN, then it would be the best choice i make at this time. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Asus... well they are great performers... but i have really bad experience from two of their laptops that is why chose to switch to other brand. but of course, there's room for improvement and i havent tried asus for 4 years now.

Regarding LG... well... to be honest. dont buy an LG. lol. i mean HP, Dell and Sony are tried and tested.

LG machines are quite nice, spec wise it is top of the range, look wise it's totally not in the ugly category, built wise it is a solid machine... but for now, gotta hold it for a while since the S1 havent got the update yet. Hey, where do you find a keyboard+numpad stuck into a 15.4" laptop... i bet HP, Dell and Sony have none of those..

LG's are definitely worth waiting for...I think that in the next couple of weeks we should know when to excpect certain models, so you'll have plenty of time to make up your mind but I can honestly say my S1 is the best laptop I have ever used. I have never been attached to a brand before but my next one will definitely be LG as well.

LG is not very well known here and it's expensive. Most of the notebook sales are under $1500, but many LG's are well into the $2000s.

hmmm... like the most expensive Panasonic Toughbooks. I heard most US militars are using Panasonics T. LG, never see one in person before.

Toughbooks? Militars? Those things are meant to be shot and be thrown around. LG for sure don't have such lines of notebooks, i believe most other don't have it also. (Really, your carbon fiber sony won't last long by falling on to the ground often, dun even mention about shooting it.) :D

Well, the only problem is, you can't really get LG notebooks in the US. Quality wise, i seen them, touched them and used them for a while. They r way better than the average HP, Dell, Sony, Asus that I used before.

Yes. i believe Panasonic Toughbooks are really toughs. Have you seen the demo? Well as for my Vaio which is not the topic. It is designed for mobility, durability and "style". It's not meant for use with people who fly choppers and drive battle tanks...... :D

Ok, granted. But why is that LGs inst widespread if the fact that you have mentioned can guarantee it. :) dont tell me it's expensive. other best seller notebooks are even more expensive.

Maybe it has to do with the law that the US have or something... It seems possible.. Wait for a while, i think the Santa Rosa S1 will appear in the US.. gradually..
