    Hi,
    I have a new Kingston 2048MB DDR2 667MHz.
    I removed both original 512 chips I had, & placed the new 2GB.
    Now it still recognizing it as 333MHz & not 667MHz as it should.

    any ideas?

    Bios settings maybe? If not that then a firmware update possibly.

    I have no such setting found on the BIOS, which was updated recently by LG_Labs...

    let me rephrase the question:
    assuming the memory is indeed 667, how can I check if my PC recognizes it correctly?

    I cant see anything wrong. The memory is recognised as DDR2 667 (333 FSB) with the ratio 1:2 as expected.

    Thats probably the issue, as far as I know the memory controller can't run both modules at different speeds, so it picks the slowest one and uses that speed. I'm about to sack out for the night, but I'll check my laptop tomorrow and see what it says in cpu-z, I have the S1 with DDR2-667 stock, so it should show you what yours should look like.

    The 512 I added was just to see if there is a difference.
    The 2048 in the first slot shows the same info with & without the extra 512 (in the main memory info)

    Thanks anyway...

    My memory shows the same frequencies, so it is running at 667, you're all set.

    Yeah, DDR2 667 memories run at 333MHz. Since the memories are capable of dual data rate transfers(hence the DDR) the effective speed is the same as single data rate memories running at twice the speed. So, the manufactures market it as DDR2 667.

    Your memory is running at its correct speed.

    great summary.
    is 2048+512 a problem?

    No, not all. Since you also have a chipset which supports flex memory you memory is also running at dual channel mode.
