    Hey all,
I have been following this laptop for a while now. I came across this laptop by chance and ever since I have been wanting it more and more every time I look at it. I haven't had a chance to look at it in person (even though there are a couple of stores around here in GTA), but I thinking of visiting one of the stores soon.

I really like the look and I have been comparing the specs very closely with other laptops, and LG S1 has an EDGE, I think. What do you guys say?

    Now to the main question:
    1) To save a few bucks, should I get the S1 Laptop with 1GB of RAM and then upgrade it myself? or should I buy the S1 with 2GB RAM?
    2) Before purchasing, could you customize, as in increasing the hard drive size? (I know it depends on the seller but still). And how will the increased hard drive impact the overall performance? Will it heat up more?

In the other thread, I couldn't find the CanadaComputers Location, but I am not thinking of ordering it online. I do know one place PCVONLINE (i think) who are offering it for: Retail: $2,499.95 with Mail-in Rebate: $200.00 . So the Price I will be getting is $2,299.95. So is it a good deal or should I get a Core2 Duo basic and then upgrade?

I just don't have the kind of money to throw, I am still a student but I have been looking for a laptop for a long time and I have finally got my eyes stuck on the S1.

I would be primarily using this for browsing-typing with Graphics Designing. I am casual gamer, and I would be watching alot of movies if I decide to go with the S1. I like all the specs of the LG S1-M002A9. Is there any other LG laptop better than this one in terms of specs?

Yes, I know... too many questions, but I got to ask because I want to spend my money on the right laptop.

Kaam the problem about upgrading is that it'll avoid the warranty so it doesn't worth it.
I think that $2,299.95 is a good price for M002A9, i paid around 2,350 for it.

It was hard for me to find the right notebook, I'm student as well. I was going to choose an asus notebook (w3J-), but when i saw the S1 I felt in love.

I do really like the image and video quality, I do watch a lot of movies too. :D

I don't have any regrets by now.

And finally, I don't think that LG has a better notebook yet (i haven't checked recently ).

Thanks for the quick reply Calzon. How long have you had your laptop for? And you price is in US, correct?

I got my eyes stuck on this Laptop too. The harder I try to find a better laptop, the harder it is to find one for its price and specs. I don't want to regret it once I buy it, and hence the reason for hesitation...

One question I forgot, I like the overall look of the laptop, but by looking at the WHITE keyboard, which is nice itself for a change, I have seen white surfaces go YELLOW in the past as they are used. Is this a case for any of the S1 owners so far? I hope not.

No problem. Well i bought it around 4 months ago, and yes the price is in U.S.

I can understand how you feel, I was in the same situation. Specially because with 2.3k dollars you can buy something more "powerful" or cheaper w/ the same specs. :p But i think it worth it.

All its up to you, I just can tell you that I'm very happy with it :D .I use it mainly for programming, gaming (on holidays), and for movies.

And about your last question, mm my keyboard is still white.

    Thanks again Calzon,
Yeh, I think LG has looks and the strength. Btw, is the outside easy to scratch??
And I see ppl complaining about the hard drive size, but if I get it customized at the store, would it still void the warranty...I hope not..

The black piano design in the lid is amazing, and indeed it get scratches, it all depends in how you take care of it.
But there are a lot of products to keep free of scratches the plastics and other materials. (I haven't tried them tough)

Or you can leave the lid protector which in my opinion it doesn't look that bad, it is not like the other lids protectors (like the ones that toshiba, HP, etc. uses).

And about the hard drive, even if your store customize it, it still void your warranty. It is because LG has only those models(w/ those specs) and they do not allow any changes.
