    Hi,

i got a R405-s and when i took the battery out, i saw a part at the bottom of the notebook just inside the battery place.

    it is written USIM

and i searched the web about USIM the 3G version of SIM..

does anybody know about this thing?

can we use normal SIM cards in this laptop?

what is the aim of this USIM slot thing ?

    any ideas? any infos?

    best wishes,

U-Sim Card is use in Asian countries (as far as I know)...Korea, Singapore, Brunei ans it's use to use your laptop as a wi-fi receiver on G3 network....That's what I have been told here in Vietnam...

USIM is used in europe not asia
well asia is pretty big soo yeah..
Korea, Japan, China use CDMA and partly GSM but its like 90%CDMA vs 10%GSM b/c theres too much mountains GSM signals dont penetrate through those mountains as well as cdma do..

    anyway back to the question
i have a lg r405a and it has that USIM slot too..
i dont know what its for..
since there no mention of it anywhere
and i dont seem to have any phone antenna
    only ethernet, wifi, bluetooth
