Are there already any impressions about this thing? Mostly interesting is battery life, sound level, screen brightness and heat factor.
Please let me know.

13.3" with an 8600GS... WOW! -
Hi!
I just got my brand new P300! So far I love it. Screen brightness is the best I ever seen. The Screen is not so glossy, but it is also not matte. something in between.
I got it with the T9300 Core 2 Duo with 3GB ram 1 GB robson, 250GB hdd and Geforce 8600GS with DDR3!!!!
SuperPI to 2M took 42Seconds, how fast is that! -
Battery gets 2:10 mins watching a dvd with full brightness on the screen.
surfing around doing not much, messaging, checking email and word, on mid brightness yeilds about 4 hrs or so. The speakers sound good for a laptop, and go louder than I expected for such a small unit. There is an SRS button on the keyboard which really makes the sound come alive for laptop speakers. At full brightness the screen is beautiful in a bright area, and at lowest brightness, the screen seems too bright for a pitch black room. I wish it could go one setting lower. I haven't played any games on it yet, but once I do, I'm sure it will be pretty hot. DVD viewing and normal use, heat seems to be a non-issue. Another neat thing to note, there is a gadget on the desktop sidebar that allows to quickly set everything on the laptop, sound, brightness, power mode, wifi on/off, etc.
awesome product, but personally, I can't get over the pink/black zebra lid, and the external DVD writer, which is why I'll be swapping mine for something else.
Hope that helps! -
Really?! I wouldn't care at all. But 4 hours for surfing and doing office stuff is quite a lot for such a small thing with such a big graphic accelerator. i'am impressed. who will write a full review?
-
I've also bought this laptop and I do love it very much. It has a beautiful screen, a great performance for being so small and thin, and above all it is quite.

a little bit more details please...

I have it now since two days . . . it is a perfect little device . . . very quiet . . . with 174.12 driver:
3DMark05: 5.542
3DMark06: 3.478
Vista install is very easy, a driver CD is in the package . . . by the way, the P300 has 1 GB Turbo RAM . . .
Greetings, Mythbuster -
sounds great. how is the screen, even it is a glare type? compareable to a macbook (not that much reflexions)? and battery life. my two biggest interests...
-
I got my hands on one today and i'm with you on the colour scheme. I know they're trying to be stylish but I like my laptops with just a basic colour
I love LG laptops though.
-
pleaseee, someone has to fully review it

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
How come some websites call this the P300, while others call it the R300?
-
the place i saw it only offer so little with no customization option.. ie. only the T8300 CPU.. -
-
i tried it in futureshop.. the keyboard is really quiet.. > sony SZ
-
what about the fans? can't make up my mind. Dell XPS m1330 or this one...
-
I got it in Sweden;
http://www.dustinhome.se/pd_5010128990.aspx
Very expensive. I was thinking about buying the XPS 1330, but I settled for this one because of the faster GPU. -
o dam.. i guess im stuck with the config @ futureshop...
-
How does XP install on this one if anybody knows?
This is a sleek portable!! -
what you mean.. you can install XP on any LTop..lol

The fans are very, very silent - I am really amazed. You can by pressing Fn + F11 adjust the fans - but even on Level "cool" it machine is much more silent than my old Sony SZ6 . . . on "Silent" you cannot hear anything . . . only the HDD . . . the sound from the Speakers is better than the sound was on the Sony SZ, the Touchpad works fine . . . keybord works good but the plastic feels not so good as the keyboard of my old SZ . . .
For the money (I have a version with 4 GB and 320 GB HDD and I paid 1.779,- Euro) it is the very best Notebook I have ever had . . .
The screen is fine, only a little light leeking - but no dead pixels or something else - so nothing I cannot live with . . .
I have also a Dell XPS 1730 which I really love, but this little Notebook is really very nice . . .

of course, i will do the same. still looking for an official full review with all details and downsides. beside the top of the laptop it looks perfect to me.

I am dying to buy this one. Would u care giving us super Pi and HD tune values before I order it..? -
Most of the time, the vista drivers won't work with XP. -
BTW, what store did u pick it up from? -
So, after waiting a LONG time to see Dell bring in the Penryn processors, well, LG launched its own Penryn P300. So fast that Futureshop Canada sold it before LG’s own site had it listed!!!
My initial impressions was that the box was too light. In fact, almost empty. Inside, packed almost as nicely, and as neatly as a Macbook / Macbook Pro, was this little toy slightly heavier then a book- not a biochem book. Turned it on, and, SURPRISE: it asked me how many partitions I wished for. Opted for one, and it proceeded.
The next hours and days turned out a total shock: this PC looks like something that went missing from an Apple boutique: it is light, elegant, fast, equipped, and a beast at productivity and benchmarks… Right now, the folks at Dell and Sony are undoubtedly loosing sleep, as the LG P-300 is leaving the next upcoming Dells and Sony far, far behind.
So, $ 2460 total (Canadian) Windows Vista Home Premium, 8300 Penryn, 2 GB RAM, LED, 256 MB 8600 GS (the difference between itself and the 8400 is akin that of a Ford Taurus and a Porche or Corvette). BTW, the VGA memory is TURBOCHARGED, and the RAM itself is dual channel…
Chip is fused onto mobo. Also, plse, no more 64 BIT questions, check tomshardware as to the reason why 32 bit Vista beats 64 bit vista at less than 6 GB onboard... So mounting 64 on this machine, or the Dell XPS is going to DECREASE performance due to the larger memory footprint. 64 bit VISTA begins to be efficient only around 8 Gb dual-channel. So, back to the chip. Likely, by fusing it, LG guarentees a more efifcient cooling system. Sinc eVISTA runs faster on it then I have ever seen XP run on some machines, why would there be a complex slot? So I think LG planned this system brilliantly. Remember that even the 5450 2Mb Intels run Vista well, so do not reject the 8300 just because of the 3 Mb cache. In benchmarks, the T9300 and T9600 barely exceed it by 5-10 percent in very fe tests, all being nearly equal in most.
Hard drive and RAM: upgreadable. 7200 RPM will do more wonders than a faster processor. 4Gb dual channel (3.2 recognized) on 32 bits Vista will outperform 64 bit Vista with 4 Gb.
OS INSTALLATION: A BEAUTY. NO BLOATWARE AND JUST 4 BASIC LG PROGRAMS FOR TOUCHPAD, CAM, MAGNIFIER AND INTELLIGENT UPDATER. A registry as clean as installed by oneself…
LED screen, tilts better than the Dell, brighter, less glossy (the brightens removes the reflections), crisp and none of that uneven distribution of color that affected the MacBook Pros in 2007.
SUPER LIGHT AND SUPER COOL: it has 3 (THREE) FN fan control settings, (FN + F11) Silent, Normal and Cool. I went ‘Cool’ trying to abuse the machine, and its whisper was still below that of the competition. At Normal, you forget the machine is on….
SILICONE MOUNTED KEYBOARD. Hence it being so quiet.. Lemme see, have I not seen this somewhere? (MAC). Dells now feels cheap, cheap, cheap.
SUPERIOR CONSTRUCTION: most laptops in the world (including Dell and HP) are MADE IN CHINA. Allright, they still call themselves Taiwan. The P-300? S KOREA! The country that launched the LCD panel revolution. So, please, no racial bigotry against the Koreans, please check all your electronics at home, chances are they are full of lead and made in China.
Faithful to the LG notebook partnership with IBM in the 1990s, this machine has some other scary features. Carbon Nanotube cooling technology is the main reason why it is so light and cool. By now, Dell’s nonexistent native R & D cell is scrambling…I know this from undisclosed LG sources, they kept it a secret till the release. For the rest, it feels light yet solid
NO NOISE, NO VIBRATION, man, this thing is unreal. Again, almost a Mac. NO, it beats the Santa Rosa MacBook Pro I reviewed a while ago.
Gaming benchmarks? Am embarrassed to admit that it thrashed my desktop with NVIDIA 7600 Pro in 3DMark 003, 2005 and 06. BTW, the 8400 GS cannot do most of the tests 3DMark offers.
Photoshop CS3? Loads in 8 seconds. Actually, earlier had the surprise once back from work to start working until I realised that Photoshop 3, Microsoft Word and web pages, Aero were all running, and had not realised that Photoshop and Word were still on (too many taskbar buttons). The machine never slowed down.
Perhaps another awesome feature is LG Intelligent Update. This tiny program updates all hardware drivers and … the BIOS as well. All with one or two clicks (or automatic if opted). None of that driver hunting, LG really pulled a rabbit… The year does not matter, now or 5 years from now, this machine will update its drivers to the latest once the OS is installed and connected for the first time to the net.
HMM, I know the two things people hate about it already. First, the tacky lines (which you forget right away). But who cares about some lines with an interesting s*x appeal? You guys are not interested in turning heads like it happened to me, it makes one loose focus.
Second, the external DVD drive, on reason the Macbook Air is getting so many bad reviews. Well, first, the P-300 is NOTHING like the AIR, beating it in power, graphics or storage. So the LG comes with this tiny, sexy external drive… I only used it three times, to install Word, tests the DVD and burner. End result? CANDO without the DVD drive. Got used to not having one very quickly. Dear readers, please remember: SLOT DVD DRIVES DIE OFTEN. This means returns, RMAs and waiting for repairs. Or, the P-300's external DVD plays movies perfectly installs programs perfectly and, dare I say, rips perfectly?
So, like Apple, LG is thinking to the future, with wireless and USBs as the key means for mass transmission.
Battery time: several hours, 2.5 to 3 with a DVD. Bear in mind that I tested the 6-cell, and this 6 cell beats many 9 cells of the competition. Turn off the touchpad ( FN+ F5 and the wireless - FN + F6, and you get 3.5 hours easily watching a movie)
Wireless N - my far away neighbours hate me again.
To sum up? Went out to buy the Dell I researched so much, and got entrapped by this siren.
And, for the first time, made Vista seems like the Leopard I wished it to be: fast, snappy, responsive, quiet, and never overloaded.
All on a P-300, Penryn T8300, 2Gb RAM.
DO NOT LOOK AT THE PICS HOPING TO GET AN IDEA. Pictures do not do it justice, again, that was part of the surprise I had.
Only item Dell outshines it on: the Complete Care offer, which LG or suppliers do not offer. So now, it's a question of wanting the cheapo, more expensive machine with complete warranty, or the new powerhouse with only up to 3 years parts, labor and technical support.
BTW, LG will help you in most countries (hint to travellers).

wow that is some review. <3 it. i can't stop drooling atm...
can you clarify, doe the laptop come with the external drive by default @ no extra charge?
also have you played any games on it? &does it get hot?
lastly, where the F**k do you buy this thing? only place in north america seems to be Futureshop but they don't let you customize it
-tks! -
external dvd drive comes stock.
-
^ yea.. no customization. so when he meant upgradeable HD.. it will void warranty.
-
it won't if you do it in a shop that offers this option...
-
^ yea thats only if you buy a HD from them and let them install it for you... um.. no that is just wasting so much $..
-
Hello P300 fan!!!
Do you know is the deal on Futureshop is 2Gig + 1G turbomemory = 3 Gig
???
Or, 1Gig + 1G turbomemory = 2Gig???
Thank you! -
Also, is this like the M1330 where you can connect a monitor to the vga and one to the hdmi and have two external screens only?
-
Hi! Hope someone can help me here. The LG P300 comes without Intel Turbo Memory but is it possible to built it in by yourself?
-
Where did you buy your p300 ? At futureshop and on LG website, there is 1G Turbomemory....
-
Haven't one yet, but thinking about buying it. The Specs look fantastic. So I can't look by myself right now.
I am from Germany, so I can't buy at futureshop. And On the german LG-Page there isn't written if there is Turbo Memory built in or not.
Greetings S. -
go to www.notebook.de, they should help you with specs and questions.

My device has now: 4 GB RAM with FSB 800 (sold old RAM, purchased new RAM), 1 GB Intel Turbo RAM and 256 MB DDR 3 RAM at the GPU (dedicated).
After one week with it, all I can say is, I love this little Notebook: It is small, very quiet and I can play all my games without problems . . .
For the money, it is the best little gaming device so far . . .
