    Hi folks

I'm writing this thread with my new P300 and would like to ask if leaving my ac adapter plugged in is okay? I was concerned weather or not the battery maybe overcharged?

I've had this problem before with my old R40 Thinkpad. The batteries would drain a bit and then the ac would charge it. (I think thats what happened)

In my old Compaq laptop the batteries would fully charge and would stop and wouldn't charge it again until you unpluged the ac adapter and then plugged it in again. If you left it plugged in it should be fine.

So I'm asking if I'm going to use the AC adapter most of the time, should I take out the battery or its okay to leave it in there without worrying about overcharging the battery?

Also if any other P300 owners have any advice for optimal performance that would be great as well.

I followed the Vista guide and did my own tweaks etc. Anything specific for P300 owners that I should consider performing?

    Thanks for the reply
    Jimmy

i dont think that if all circuits are ok any modern laptop will overcharge the battery. all batteries have a built in overcharge protection system which will cutoff the supply immediately on full charge. so its safe to plug in ur system all day. however its recommended to remove the battery and keep it in a colder environment due to reduce the wear (not due to overcharging) if u use ac adapter always.

thanks for the reply kuncheesh :)
    muchly appreciated

Can I ask should would it be recommended to upgrade the RAM? from 2gb to 3 or 4?

Would there be much performance increase to doing that for everyday regular word processing, normal gaming, surfing, music, videos?

I don't think the performance boost on anything but the gaming would really be particularly noticeable. However, you will probably be able to almost all of those things together without much slowdown if you upgraded.

i dont think an upgrade in RAM will be necessary for anything but heavy gaming and graphics editing. the performance increase on normal activities from 2gb to 4gb increase is negligible. moreover you cannot use the full RAM in 4gb using a 32 bit OS. so upgrade to 4gb only after u have a 64 bit OS

thats what I meant, I enjoy playing music, watching videos and surfing all at once. Gaming on the other hand I'm fairly light so I don't mind the visuals at all.

I wanted to know how much faster can my computer keep up with the extra RAM. Example start-up time, switching between programs etc.

Then again this may not be an issue with RAM but with how fast the HDD is. I'm not sure still very newbish with PCs

Thanks for the reply though :)

I just wanted to add that LG provides a battery program to monitor and set how your battery is used.

It's pretty cool, I set the program to safe which charges the battery when it hits the 50% mark. So lets say if your battery is at 80% it wont charge which I guess helps battery life.

    :)

    Really?

How come? I thought this program allows you to help set the charging time. Example if you've only used the battery down to 70% but yet want to plug it in it doesn't automatically charge. This helps control your charging times on when you want to charge the batter.

    Thats what I thought.

lowers the number of times you charge the batter?

doesn't that benefit later on and extend battery life? Less frequent charges means extended battery life?

    Unless I'm wrong here lol
