    Hi,

I've been patiently looking for a new laptop and right now it seems that the LG E500 is a likely choice, as buying the Samsung R70, as I'd like to is not an option unfortunately, unless I import it. I'm figuring the LG E500 is the replacement for the LG F1 (with improvements). The LG R500 is too expensive for what I'm willing to pay and as the P1 is with price drops, I was wondering what would be your opinion on choosing between both... I'll be using it mainly for work: Office, Internet and a bit of Photoshop and Dreamweaver. Thanks.

The E500 will be faster because of the 2GB of ram. The P1 will performe better in games. The E500 is good value for money. I dont see any benefit for the P1 unless you want to play games. And if you do there would be better options then both.

I agree with "wave", 1gb ram is the minumum to run vista so the 100mhz cpu difference of the e500 won't matter over twice the ram it has. The 2gb ram will offer a great performance improvement in photoshop.
All the other things are very similar, except for the gpu. If you don't play games and you only need office/internet, go with the new e500, but if you like games you should consider other notebooks with better gpu than x1400.
    Hope we helped you.

I won't be playing games at all. :) Thank you for your advice.

It's a bit off-topic, but I guess even against the Samsung R70 maybe the LG E500 is a better choice because of the GPU (this way won't be paying extra for the dedicated graphics?)...

Yes if you dont play games or do 3d modeling the GPU would be useless to you. I would say it would even be a negative because it shortens battery life compared to the Intel one.
