    Hi,
I just want to say that now 3 days ago i bought a very nice lg p1 with t5200 core2duo and x1400 ati and ,i read on this forum also that this notebok is very silent.....ok my thinking is really like this...i have it right here and sure is ,,silent,, ,don't get warm ,it's a beautiful ,,baby,, notebook :) but i just want to find if also to you the HHD(120 GB,5400RPM) is making just in continue a little noise like ,,ssssssssssssssssssssssss,, without pause is making just little noises ...and i think this is normal to a HHD to heard it in this way?? and is not making pause like the CPU Fan !
So will be nice to find how is with your HHD noises in this beautiful LG P1 :)or in general if it's really silent or is average noises!? and with the cpu temperature...to me is showing cpu with 54 C and HHD with 39 C!

What are you running? If you're running intensive tasks, then clearly the CPU will be generating more heat and the fan will have to start spinning louder. At idle, my S1's CPU is 39 degrees. If you want the fan to be completely silent, you can use the Fn + F11 to control the fan speed.

I occasionally get those weird noises with my hard drive, but they eventually go away. There have been other posts in this forum regarding that issue. I suggest you find those.

That noise you're hearing is most likely the fan blowing over the CPU.. I have an S1 (similar to the P1) and I hear that noise all the time. Most reviews are a bit misleading, and this laptop does make a bit of noise..

i have a P1 and the HD is around 36C from internet browsing and music but my room is usually pretty cold. As with kensuke i do have a bit of fan noise somtimes from the cpufan, i wouldn't worry about it too much. I've had other laptops before and this LG is definately one of the quieter ones.

It is not the HD, it's the left fan.

Yeah, the CPU is on the left just below where the QWE keys are on your keyboard.. Flip your laptop over and you'll see the vent on the bottom
