I've been hearing about a 12.1 inch widescreen LG notebook coming out in Korea, does anyone know if this particular model will be released in Canada??

seems like a nice machine...pretty light...1.7 kgs (3.75 lbs) don't know if it has integrated optical drive...
    it will be a
    Pentium M 2.0 ghz
    3usb ports
    6 cell battery
    5 in 1 reader
    only 256 mb of ram
    I guess a 40 or 60 gb 1.8 inch HD
    and integrated video card...

Interesting there is no mention of a integrated optical drive, I'm guessing, however, based on the overall weight it probably will come with one. Also something interesting to note, I believe it uses the Azalia sound system which has 24 bit sound and also supports Dolby Digital 7.1.

Model is LW20, you can find the detail info at www.lge.com (LG's global website). Besides, the top LW20 model will be available at "the Shop for the Future" (I don't know whether I should post the real name) across Canada in November. Stay tuned.

The max HD will be whatevers out there, since I think it uses a 2.5" HD, anything from 120gb 5400rpm, to 100gb 7200rpm.

going to check them out soon (i'm in singapore)
i've narrowed my choices to either this sleek LW20 or the much cheaper apple ibook g4 12" hee...
the lg is quite alot more ex.. but wonder if it's worth to pay for the nicer screen, looks, and performance? hm..
anyone has used LG laptop can comment on their reliability ? thx ^^

finally got to play abit with the LW20.. sad to say watching movies isn't quite as smooth compared to LW40.. can see abit of blocky pixel espicially at high action scenes..
othe than that seems nice and bright lcd screen - brighter than lw40.
But juust when I was abt to decide on the LG20 to get.. I saw the vaio S series nearby and was totally smitten.. now getting the vaio lol...

As impressive as they sound I think it wise to wait in the U.S. if you want EVDO. I think EVDO frequencies are not the same in every country, no? Otherwise something to really look forward to if you can't wait for dual core.

    :::

the LW20 is very nice! I saw it when I brought my
IBM Z60t. The place I brought is much cheaper
than futureshop. The LW40 is very good too,
but I like my IBM more!

My girlfriend has one, I mean LW20. It's very nice looking, solidly built and packs great power for office work being so small and all. The keyboard is one of the best I've used too.

I have one and couldnt be more happy. Well, i could a bit more if i know what's going on with wireless connections. Aside from that, is a very powerfull small computer. Someone in a post above said something about not being able to see movies correctly or with the desirable quality ... i could not be in more disagree. Have seen a few, and them all ran perfectly. Maybe is codec issues.

According to LG's website, the optical drive is hot-swappable. Does that mean there is a battery that will fit the optical drive bay?

Also, does it use a 2.5" hard drive or a 1.8"? Interestingly, Futureshop doesn't carry the English version of this laptop.

I'm also interested in knowing that spec! How does a 1.8" HD perform compared to a 5.400 rpm 2.5" one? 8-?

    TIA ;)

    Hallo!

I'm still wondering if I should purchase it (999 Euros is a low amount for such laptop), but I've got some doubts:

    1. is the fan noisy? Does it turn often on (of course I know it depends on usage, but...)? For instance, does it turn on at all when cpu is at 800mhz for a while?

    2. have you had any problem with the air flow entrance, as it is situated at the bottom of the laptop?

    3. I've read 1 review about linux in a LW20 at http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_LG_LW20 ... do any of you have tryed this SO in it? Any other experiences?

    Again, TIA!! ;)
