Hi all, Im in Melbourne, Australia and I have taken my ls50 to Highpoint (LG) for repairs. The socket where the power cord goes in was damaged (burnt out) and wont work or charge properly (you have to jiggle the cord around).
The plastic on the cord connection that goes in said socket is melted and it's black inside the socket area. Also, the right USB port is damaged. Highpoint is telling me I need a new motherboard, power supply and USB port. :( :( :( I think theyre lying. I think its all integrated and i just need a new motherboard. Could anyone confirm or deny my suspicions please. Theyre telling me its gonna cost $600 for parts and labour. Ive also been waiting for 7 weeks and everytime i ring them, they say the parts have just arrived and a tech is on the job. Im just about ready to wrap my hands around some throats up in here.     Any help would be much appreciated.

The support always replace parts. So I think they are right.(In fact if you were dealing with guys like Toshiba support [in some places] you would have been found guilty for damaging the lappy and your warranty would have been voided and you would have been forced to pay more than $1000 to get it fixed)

    firstly welcome tothe forums
usually the mobo is one of the most costly parts of your laptop after your screen and gpu if any
the rule is that if the cost of the repair is more than one-third or half te rice of the lapop its better to replace the whole laptop itself given that its not brand new

well if its still under warranty you can ask them to reconsider provided that its not your fault whatsoever
or else you could offer to pay half price as it seems to be manufacturing defect
    hope it works out
    cheers

600.00, sounds like you are getting off easy. Motherboard replacement is typically alot more costly than that.
