    Hi All,
After agonising for several weeks over which laptop to get (previous one been Toshiba Portege 4000), I have finally settled with this one. Other models i had in mind was the Dell I9200, and the I8600.

I wanted a notebook with an ATI Radeon 9700 (no less), reasonably fast cpu and lots of ram. The I9200 was a good choice, but after seeing it in real life, it was a bit big for my liking (despite the beautiful 17" screen).

I'll post more info about this laptop at a later stage ie. benchmarking results etc and gaming performance. As I did not find any reviews on this notebook, I hope the information to follow will help others decide which notebook they prefer.

    Regards,
    twobunnyrabbit

ps: the Specs can be found at the LG website.

Follow on to my first post....

I installed and ran Half-life 2 on 1440x1050 (default monitor res.) and default video settings (everything set to high). The ingame FPS varies between 30-60fps. Very playable. The image quality is awesome.

Well, thats my litmus test for this notebook.

If anyone requires further info, feel free to pm me.

    Regards,
    twobunnyrabbit

The website which has the most updated notebook configuration info is the Australian website (www.lge.com.au). Strangely enough, after I got the notebook, the site has been down.

In reference to your question, the "nit" amount is 200 and the native resolution (SXGA) is 1440x1050. I havent seen a UXGA with a 2ghz dathon anywhere. Maybe machine specs varies with different countries (where are you from?).

Btw, just for the technically minded, the ATI Mobility 9700 is actually a 9600XT, but with a slightly slower clock speed. And its 20-30% faster than the Mobility 9600 Pro.

    Hi,

Im very very close to buying the LG LS50-8. Below are the specs (Im from australia, so Im not sure if the specs you have are the same)

    Display: 15" SXGA(1400 x 1050)

    CPU: Intel® Pentium® M 1.8GHz

    Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon 9700

    Video Memory: 128MB

    Memory: 1024MB (DDR 333MHz)

    HDD: 80GB

    ODD: DVD±RW

Wireless: Intel Pro/ Wireless Mini LAN Card 802.11b/g(Mini-PCI)

PC Card: Type I or Type II

    Multi-card Reader

    Pointing/KBD: Touchpad with 2 buttons / 86 Keys

OS: Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional Edition

    Dimension: 335x274x30.8mm

Weight: 2.7Kg (including 6 cell standard battery)

    Warranty: 1 Year

    A few questions please :

    1. How hot does the system run? I plan to play games for a few hours at a time, and watch dvds etc. Can you sit it comfortably on your lap? I was turned off a Toshiba as I heard it runs hot around the touchpad.

    2. How loud is the system? Do the fans come on regularly?

    3. What is the screen like? I was really after a 15.4" to play games and watch movies, tv, etc, but the specs on the LS50-8 really impressed me.

    4. How long is battery life? Can you provide me with some examples?

    5. Can you list any con's or issues with the LS50-8 ? I have searched all of the Internet and could not find much info on this model. Are there any cons or issues you see with this model?

    Thanks for your help

Can someone tell me if it comes with an international warranty?

    Thanks.

    For you aussies,

LS50-8 is same as LS50-H13A, apparently. They have the same specs.

Some places that have it, from least to more expensive:

That would be sweet for a laptop, i couold get rid of this PC and just have that [ :D]

BUT... for an extra 1.5k if this is around 4k and usually laptops are around 2.5k roughly i could upgrade my PC to the max and have both... I spose its just what your happy with...

Me, id love one but i dont have the cash [ :(]
