General first impression - I'm in love. It's extremely quiet, barely gets warm at all, is thin, light, and so powerful. If there are any specific benchmarks people would like run feel free to post them here and I'll include them in my full review.

Ran the battery down, lasted 3 hours and 35 minutes on the standard 6 cell. Wifi was on the whole time, was running AIM and browsing the internet. Also installed a few applications, ran Super PI. Definitely happy with battery life. This was with the screen at half brightness, which was still completely readable.

    Where did you buy it?
It looks very sexy...and sleek... but very square.

ASUS M6800Ne, P-M 1.5 Dothan, 512MB Ram, Tohiba Combo drive, Samsung Spinpoint M 40G HDD with 8M cache, Mobility Radeon 9700

    Hey Modifried,

Thanks for taking the time to take the pics. I am envious. Mine is coming in on Monday sometime!

Is there a WIFI signal display like the LM50 had? If so, do you have a pic?

    Thanks

    Milks

    Sweet!

I thought maybe that the blue bar was a power indicator of some sort but thought it was rather redundant!

Thanks for the quick reply and pics

    Enjoy that beast!

Any new likes or dislikes now that you have had it for a bit now?

    Milks

    Hi Everyone,

I work as an It-Consultant and reseller and as such have seen/sold/installed many notebooks. Nevertheless I dont get to see all notebooks, in particular not those which suit my requirements.
I have to buy a new notebook, which leaves me with a wide range of choices.

So I pretty much narrowed it down to a notebook with 15" sxga (good quality, of course),
at least 512 mb (1 modul preferred),
    ati x600 (128mb prefered),
fast hardrive (for hds often are the bottleneck in todays notebooks, 4200 upm is considered to be to slow)
a overall weight of less then 2,8 kg
a powerfull battery (4 hours and more)
    and a silent fan system.

Now the problem unfortunately is you dont get all of this features in one notebook.
My considerations at this times are:

    LG LM 70
    Dell Latitude D810 Professional
    Samsung x25

Except for the Dell, I had the oportunity to briefly examine the notebooks on the CEBIT 2005 in Hannover, which nevertheless doesn't allow conclusions about noise, performance, and battery life.

LG in Germany is a newcomer on the NB market (IBM nbs left aside), but globaly however well-established. Unfortenately the German Website is very thin on the information side. Furthermore the most employees on the booth on CEBIT didn't seem too well informed, and I didn't have enough time to search arround.
So at this time its unsure if the LM70 in GErmany will be available with x600's 128mb version and an 9 cell battery. Maybee LGman can provide some Information here. Moreover there is no information about the rotation speed of the harddrive. It only says 80 gb sata . SATA per se doesn't quite have an impact on performance. Apart from these flaws it quites matches the profile.

The Dell Nb is quite configurable but is heavier and comes with a WSXGA screen which I dont like. There is no review availabe which covers the noise level. RAM changes cost a fortune and x600 is not available with 128 MB.

Samsung x25 is very good too, but comes with a 4200 upm harddrive which is probably too slow. On the brightside however is the high capacity battery which can last up to 6 hours.
Unfortunately only the very expensive Cen 2000 version comes with 128mb x600 and a faster harddisk. The X20 III doesn't ship with the slow HD but is only equipped with a standard battery. Both are known to be real quiet but so is the LM70.

In general I would really appreciate more configurability for notebooks, at least for resellers or distributors.

So, I would be interested in experience with the above mentioned notebooks and any
comments on my findings are apreciated.

    regards

    neo42

    Hi All,

Just ordered my LG LM70 Notebook today from my supplier in Australia. I was sold by the pictures that modifried had posted, so LG should give you a wrap for that!

Im surprised that LG aren't supplying this model the the US market!!! Mind you i dont care as long as i get mine ASAP.

Will post some pics of the Australia version when i get it.

    Cheers

    Chris

Dam...that is a bit more expensive than canadian price....
    AUD almost = CAD
    over here LM70 go for 3199 (x600 128mb)
    and 2999 for the x600 64 mb

LG is in shortage of x600 128mb...maybe that is the reason for the delay

Got my LM70 Express yesterday but have only just had a chance to play with it now.[ :D] This thing goes like a rocket with a 1GB of RAM and SATA HDD. The big test will be when i get Battlefield 2 and install on it. [} :)]

This model set me back $3,275AU.

    The model is a LM70-QKXA.
    PM1.86Ghz / 1GB RAM / 80GB SATA / DVD-RW / 15" SXGA / 128mb X600 RADEON Graphics / etc....2.3kgs.

Will post some pictures sometime this week.
