I just got a LG laptop about 5 days ago. Haven't seen anything about any LG laptops reviewed or mentioned here. Compared to all the laptops available on the market, LG i would say gives all the big names out there a run for their money.

Here are the specs on the one i got.

    1.7 ghz Dothan
    512 ram
    80 gig
    DVD/CDRW combo drive
    15" Screen
    3 in 1 card reader
    5.6 lbs
    802.11b/g
    ATI 9600 64meg video

One thing for sure, it's a lot lighter than my Dell i got 3 years ago!

LG makes a nice machine, they just have no market penetration in the US, that's why you don't see many posts about them.

LG does make a very nice machine. I love the fact that they can get them so thin. My only question is are you sure it is a Dothan? If it is, that would be interesting news as I haven't seen any announcement as of yet of Dothan CPUs in the current LG lineup. But I suspect it is a Banias CPU.

All their 1.7 ghz are Dothans. 1.6 ghz and lower are Banias.

I am considering the very same model as well.

I guess they are really nice machines. Haven't read many user reviews though. Also have information LG is entering US market this sept.

Read any first hand experiences on this machine?

I have an LG LS50, it is absolutely beautiful!

The 15' screen is great, one of the main reasons I bought a laptop was for Adobe Photoshop work and the screen is more than adequate.
They advertise a 6 hour battery life for them, but its more like 3 hours, 50 minutes with some background programs going all the time but it is still more than enough and better than most other laptops.
I upgraded to 768MB of RAM and everything runs absolutely flawlessly, there are no hot spots at all, the Centrino processor takes a lot of the weight off, the drive and fan are virtually silent, can't really say much else.

It is definitely worth checking out though. It's a shame there aren't more reviews for LG laptops, they are definitely one of the top quality laptop brands out there and deserve a place alongside all the other leading brands. A lot of websites don't even acknowledge LG as a laptop brand yet. More people need to know how awesome these things are! [ :D]

I agree with you Taka,Lots of guys stuck in famous brand names,Dell,Hp,Toshiba, but there s a little, sometime there s nothing to say something for the LG,MSI,AOPEN,these marks are really quality and enough to race with all, even better than these famous brands...
LG LM50,LS50 models are superb and very quality models when I compare to with Dell,Toshiba,Sony...when you look out the sony s 197xp the price is 3190 euro(3700 usd) it s an amazing price, huge. But for me LG LM50 is moe good than this...and here s mine below, and only 2100 US

I have narrowed my laptop choices down to Benq 8100 v20, LG LS50-csva and Acer 2012. No real difference in them.. but about $1000 diff in price between Acer and Benq. One thing I can't find out despite weeks of searching is the HD speed of the LG LS50-csva.
Does anyone know what it is? Benq is 5400 rpm and Acer is 4200 rpm but no where can i find the LG speed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Then I woke up on the couch.. I hadn't left the house! but my socks were damp and covered in grass.

    Hi friend from Turkey,
    I am living in istanbul,too[ ;)]
    I advice you just having a look at "www.pcsatis.net" [ :)]
    When you look this site you will see LS-50 model of LG which is performed with;
Intel Centrino 2.0 Ghz (Dothan) with 400 Mhz FSB
    128 MB ATI MR 9700
    512 MB RAM
... and lots of specifications of it..
You are right about LG official site doesn't contain this products, but there are also 1.8 Ghz dothan versions..
I think they didn't update their site at last times[?]
And you can see these models of LG in "www.ufotek.com" they are distributor of LG in Turkey..
Hemde cok ama cok uygun fiyata..

    Well I see some posts in my inbox.Related to LG LS 1.8 dathon SXGA and ASUS M6Ne 1.7;

    well
1-LG s LCD more bright and crisp, sharp (but of course not like Sony Xbrite)
    2-LG s cpu s more powerful(that model LG LS50 1.8 - 2.0)
    3-LG LM has a fiber,magnesium case,LG LS has a aluminium case
    4-LG has a 9700 128 mb
5-LG has a 5400rpm (but be careful and ask ur seller, sometimes I can hear opposite, but it s generally 5400 rpm)

ASUS? I do not recommend when I see LG...

man,I couldt understand how can u use some 3d modelling and hard-work stuffs in a notebook. Why dont u use a more powerful gpu on desktop?A real professional use desktop instead of notebook, especially in 3dmax,MAYA,and other applications,

u must use nvidia s quadro gpus and some ati s professional gps,coz we must make some sophisticated 3d modellings tringials, poligrams above 200000...and u can also make only 7000-10000 in normal(unprofessional)gpus,so u can also open and make some basic arrangements, not a complicated one...These notebooks cannot provide a professional graphics usage.

    yes 9600pro s 128 mb,but do not forget,the more important thing s the architecture base of gpu,it means 9700 64mb s more powerful than 9600pro 128mb.But do not wait difference between 9700 64mb and 9700 256mb,it s a trap for customers.There s no important difference among them.9700 ati s %20-30 more powerful than 9600 ati.

ok I add u,add me also,[email protected],no probs u can buy that think, but LG LM50 has magnesium alloy and fiber case,I think first of all u must think that model instead of LG LS50,if u find a 9700 ati in LGLM50,buy that thing.
