I, too, have a z990. Only been a week so far but I have added a 1TB NVME ssd on top of the original 256GB SATA and another 8GB of ram.

I particularly love the one touch fingerprint reader to power on and login.

Shame there isn't more discussion on the 2019 gram 14" anywhere.

I bought the 14Z990 with the i7 processor, 16GB RAM, 256 SSD, and touchscreen. It is a great, incredibly lightweight laptop.

I only wish it came with Windows 10 Professional for Bitlocker encryption and also that the Kernel DMA Protection could be loaded on it to protect the Thunderbolt 3 port from DMA attacks. But I don't leave it lying around in public places, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I bought a Gram 14Z980 last week on Black Friday. The 14Z990 is not being sold in my country, but they are very similar.

So far, it is being great. Good performer, nice keyboard and trackpad. Very lightweight and the battery life is absolutely fantastic.

It has some advantages over my 2018 MacBook Air. It does not feel as solid and the screen is not as good. The trackpad does not work so well. And it has a faster SSD and Thunderbolt ports. But it is faster, lighter, has a larger screen and better battery life. Overall, I think the Gram is a better pick as its features are more valuable for me.

LG has just announced the successor to the 14Z990. The 14Z90N was announced in Korea and is not yet available in the U.S. or elsewhere in the world ( https://www.lge.co.kr/lgekor/product/pc/notebook/productDetail.do?cateId=&prdId=EPRD.346408).

If you do not understand Korean, do like me and use the automatic translator of the web browser to see the specs.

It is still a lightweight (unnoticeably heavier at 999g against 994 of the 14Z980 and 995g of the 14Z990).

It has a 10th gen Intel Ice Lake processor (10nm), 3200 MHz DDR4 memory (against 2400 MHz of the previous models), an NVMe SSD (instead of SATA 3 as in previous models).

The hinge is not hidden, which results in a slightly smaller body (although not lighter).

The battery is still the same at 72 Wh (which is great) and the screen seems to be the same as well. But it has upgraded ports and it comes with Thunderbolt now.

Looks like they updated the 17" as well for 2020. EXCITE!
