Hey - Was just noting that there are a lot of LG threads lately, and also that LG is really powering up for a big push into the notebook market... Perhaps there should be a LG forum on this site, instead of having it fall into "other"?

In other news, my research into the lg lm50 has turned up that it works great in linux - purchase will be ensuing soon, and I'll write a review when I get it.

I agree, and LG forum seems like it's time has come. Would you be willing to be a moderator for it?

    sure :)

anyone looking to buy in canada, lgstore.ca - nice guys, they actually installed linux on it for me to see if it works before I even gave them any kind of commitment about buying

their site is a bit messed though, and seems to have lost the . in the price

    Hello,

I am trying to find an LM50 with the 15" SXGA+(1400X1050) (Wide View Angle LCD). However, most of the retailers I contact are confused about this and claim they only have the 4:5 screen version. Am I wrong to assume that "Wide View Angle" means 16:1 and does anyone have a WSXGA model that could tell me about the screen performance? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

The LP60 is the only one with widescreen from what I can tell.

I have a LM50a, it's not a widescreen, just that the resolution is higher.

Ok thanks.. Actually ended up going with a Sony S270. After upgrading the drive to a 7K60 Hitachi and bumping the ram up to 1GB the only it's missing is a high res screen. The LG would have been perfect with a wide format screen.

    hi[ :)]
I wanna know if a wide LCD is suitable for working with graphic softwares such as Corel Draw & Photoshop or not? If the fonts & icons look like normal or skretched?
You know watching 4:3 films on a wide TV (16:9 mode without black bars) make pictures to be skretched and people look like fatter!
So how about playing games which are not made for wide LCD & have their own ratios like 800x600 ... how about the icons of windows?if they look like more skretched? Also how about internet and home pages ?how they look like?
Finally what's the advantage of a wide LCD except its better ratio for watching DVD without letterbox?

    hi there!

i'm from russia and wanna bye LG LP-60

actually, LG brend looks little bit suspicious. it seems to be not reliable.

what can u tell about it?

also, is it true, that this model can work only about an hour w/o power supply?
