I'm using a new LG F1-2245A9 notebook. There are a row of blue lights at the front of the machine - from right to left: wireless, scroll lock, caps lock, num lock, battery, hard drive (?), and the one on the far left looks like a crescent moon. Sometimes when I press the power button, the light underneath the power button and the crescent moon light both turn on for about a second or two, and then they both turn off and the computer does not boot up.

This doesn't happen most of the time. The only way I can seem to get it to turn on is to unplug it and remove the battery, then put the battery back in and try turning it on again (although sometimes that doesn't work either, and I just have to wait for some period of time until the computer is ready to turn on). I've disabled hibernation and I have my power settings set so that it is never going into standby or turning off the hard disks.

This is an incredibly frustrating problem, so anything you can tell me about it would be very much appreciated. What is that crescent-moon light referring to?

Thanks a lot for anything you can tell me.

the crescent moon as far as my knowledge of it, always stood for hibernation....that is weird that it lights up.

did this happen from the beginning or did it start occuring recently?

I've only had this notebook for a little over a month now. It has happened a few times. I thought I'd fixed the problem by disabling hibernation and other power settings, because it seemed to stop for a couple weeks. But then it happened again the other night - it wouldn't turn on until the next morning, and then it refused to turn on again a little later in the day.

I thought the crescent-moon shaped light had to do with hibernation too. What's weird, though, is that that light is always on whenever my computer is on, and then blinks when it's on standby. From what you say, ejl, it sounds like that light is only supposed to come on when the computer is in hibernation...?

Does anyone else out there have this same problem? Do you have the weird crescent-moon light? When is it lit up on your computer?

i don't have an lg, but i have seen computers with the moon on it and it stood for hibernation on those notebook.

this is an odd issue....i would say do a fresh reinstall of windows or restore in its original state to rule out software issues.
