LG E300 Chipset Drivers

i'm trying to install xp on this laptop and am having some trouble finding the appropriate drivers.

where do i get the chipset drivers? i've tried this: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/integrated-xp but i get an error: no drivers are compatible with the current hardware or os.

ok, i managed to find the drivers by going to the lg site. the only one i can't find is the one for the ethernet controller. any ideas?

I also have a LG E300 and I also want to use Windows XP instead of Windows Vista. Can you please tell me where can I get the drivers for Windows XP to install on the LG? I've searched but with no luck

I haven't actually used any of these drivers yet, but I'll tell you how I got them.

I'm not terribly impressed with LG's website, but if you would like to get XP drivers for the E300:

1. go to http://www.lge.com/support/software.jsp
2. In the 'Select Continent' and 'Select country/region' dropdowns, choose N. America & USA respectively
3. For 'Product' select Notebook
4. For 'Series' select E200/E300 (you may have to wait a few seconds after step 3 before the 'Series' dropdown updates itself)
5. For 'Operating system' choose Windows XP
6. Click the 'Search' button (and wait...)

Personally I selected 'All' for the OS and manually selected the XP drivers from the results... I just wanted to see what other drivers were available. I did see some drivers only available for Vista, and some only available for XP.

Navigating the site was a pain, the search results took a long time to come up, and I found it was better to navigate the search results by clicking the page numbers (you typically get 5 or 6 pages worth of drivers) rather than clicking 'Prev' and 'Next' to move between the driver pages. When you do it, you'll understand what I mean...

Anyway, I hope this helps and that we get more people posting about XP on the E300!

 

hi i had same problem and i solved the problem. check u r display driver is ati if it is ati display then chipset driver is included with display driver. go to this link http://www.lgservice.com/gcsc/b2c/hpi/main?tc=swl.command.SwlCmd

download ati video driver for winxp only.

i am sure u r problem will be solved

 

solution for lan driver just download and install the marvel yukon lan vista driver in winxp. dont worry vista lan driver will go in winxp.

 

This is a retarded laptop... I bought it and had NO CHOICE but to install vista... Xp sound drivers won't work, I had to hear it from LG support...

Webcam won't work either.

I also tried several distros of linux and the keyboard was not recognized... nor wireless card. But it has sound...

Somebody successful to install linux on this one?

 

Yh i have installed Ubuntu 8.04 on one just 20 mins ago and it runs just fine, the fn keys and wifi and stuff dont work out of the box tho so I'll get that running and if it does work I will let you know

Ok! so things that work on my LG E300 is in Ubuntu 8.04 32bit:

Video driver: works fine, but when installing I had to either use textmode or use an external screen (? werry odd solution ?) then the fxlg driver works just fine after installing

Keyboard: To my surprise this workes out of the box and eaven with some fansy fn keys things not woking on keyboard are wireless button (sadly) and fan button.

Bluetooth: Working out of the box :O that's so strange.

Things not working:

Wlan: wlan and 3G card is the resond I bought this notebook so I need those going :/ here is some details about this... And I'm still working on making this work: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=683085

3g: same thing havnt got it to work Sierra is the card brand but the provided driver from sierra dont work!

Hope that we can join heads and solve the problems for this wonderful little machine

 

Well my head won't be of any help... I tried the new ubuntu intrepid thingy alpha 5, still the samre problem.

What could be different on our machines? What are the specs?

This problem is turning me into this monster, my wife won't talk to me anymore... PLEASE! If someone knows anything about it....
