Only one response received - thank you for the feedback. Are there any other LG users or people who are familiar with these products that can comment here?? I sure could use the help. Thanks...

I am purchasing a new notebook and have decided to go with with either an LG LW 70 (1.86 processor c/w 100 GB, 17" display) OR the LG LW 60 (80 GB, 1.73 processor, 15.4" display). I am a former Toshiba satellite user.

I need to decide quickly between the two LB products. Who can offer some guidance with respect to this decision??

I run my laptops hard. I am especially concerned re: battery life, longevity & performance, reliability, and everything you can think of. The laptop will be used for personal and business use. I also tend to store a lot of music and multitask/run multiple programs at once.

How much do these LGs heat up anyways??

Since the consumer reports do not even mention the LG brand, I would be grateful for any guidance, advice, etc.
    Thank you -

If you need mobility and battery life, the LW60 is the way to go. It weighs less and the larger the screen, the shorter the battery life since the screen is the biggest battery drainer on a notebook. There is a review in the reviews section by one of our moderators for the LW70. They seemed rather fond of it. It seems light for a 17" notebook at 7Lbs. Good Luck.

Hi; what did you finally decide? I'm in the same situation. Must have a new notebook to replace two year old DELL and can't decide between the W-60 and the W-70.
Second question- Portability - your thoughts?

I picked the LW70 when I realized that the screen on the 60 didn't provide any overall gain compared with my existing laptop in terms of screen size.My eyes are bad and I spend long hours on the computer so this cinched the decision.

Power-wise, the two are comparable provided you are not into any heavy gaming. In terms of battery life, I ran my own test and found that the two were only 45-60 minutes apart (but test results depend on your usage). Still, the 70 is way heavier - a real trade of for a short, small person.

In the end, the 70 should fit my needs since my office does'nt accomodate an actual desktop. My laptop has to function as a desktop replacement as a result. If I had a separate desktop at home, and needed something to take on the run, I'd chose the 60 - sleek, small and clean (and oh yeah, if you're younger than I am, the wider screen on the 70 may not be that big of a carrot for you).

Hope this provides you with all the details you need. Let me know what you think, and what you decide.

    Good luck.
