LG is generally considered a non-name brand in the U.S. and not widely recognized, which is a shame, they are high quality and a very good manufacturer. Their notebooks are stylish, well-built and have good performance. However, I don't even know where you can buy them in the U.S. They sell LCDs here and they are pushing more and more into the market in North America with their brand but more often or not you'll find that an American company will use an LG product and rebrand it as their own (meaning LG is the Original Design Manufacturer)

I saw some of those LG X-Note laptops when I bought my Acer 2012WLMi in the middle-east recently.

They do look quite nice (was looking at one with a 1.7 Ghz Pentium-M, 512mb ram and 64mb Radeon 9600) but I read a few bad stories about LG laptop customer support, plus LG aren't really well known so far in the laptop marketplace (as far as I can tell) so I decided not to take the risk.

This is also another situation where you can find a domestic or name-brand North American company that offers very similar specs for the same or less money. While the exterior is stylish, the interior is only ho-hum.

LG, though, is getting closer to the price range of domestics than Samsung or JVC, though.
