Isnt P330 just like another M11X?

I was really into P330, mainly because its 555M gpu fit into a 3.7ln body.
I was comparing it to AW M14X and thinking about whether I shold just go all out to get one, then I realized, wait, isnt it just like a M11X?

In a way, P330 and M11X are very close. M11X slightly heavier. P330 has bigger screen but both are 720P. GPU P330 has a low end 555M where M11X has high end 540M. M11X has better CPU selection.
Feels like when you put all these together, it balance out.

Now the cheapest I see on market is ebay, one guys is selling i5 P330 for $1400 some, where at AW M11X i5 go for $1000 with slightly better CPU and HD compare to that one. so what does the extra $400 got me? pretty much the slim look :D I am sure both will play most of game fine without notice too much difference ;)

the drawback on P330 for me was no backlit KB and no 900P screen. M11X doesnt have 900P neither, but M14X got both and a high-end 555M with good pricetag. too bad it come with extra 2 lb too.

I just think P330 lost the war already the more I look at it.

    GT555m > GT 540. By a very large margin.

There is no "war" to be lost. P330 is for South Korea only and LG sell way more notebooks there than AW.
And AW is everywhere in the world, so they don't really compete.

That said, I would love an M11x if it was lighter and with a better screen. For the resolution a GT540m is good a mid settings.
LG P330 will play any game in very high settings, I play D3 Beta with everything max and I am at 70fps, always.

Also, I can bring my notebook in business meeting. I would never bring an AW in meeting, sadly.

ULV CPU vs. Full Voltage CPU is a no-brainer.

OP must have missed that the m11x uses ULV versions while the P330 uses full voltage CPUs.

The P330 is in a class of its own, hands down. Altough you could start comparing the P330 with an AW M14x it wouldn't make much sense since the P330 is both considerable slimmer and lighter. The GPU and ULV CPU in the M11x also puts it out of the competition. Not to mention the M11x is thicker as well. The design is a matter of taste, but I much prefer the slick, refined aluminium body of the P330. Comparing it with the Lenovo Y480 would make more sense.

you three are up early ;)

its a war for myself whether which one to go for my next laptop ^^

for one, I dont have concern about bring laptop to business meeting. Home use only.

the P is better looking, no doubt. and I know its faster. but does that really adjustify the $400?

I used to have the M11X, gaming wise fits almost all my needs, then finally get rid of it since the screen and resolution is too low for me. so sad P is 720P...I know what you gonna say ;) hey, eveyone have different needs.

if any, I think I will still go with M14X.

just cuious thou, Natadiem, maybe you already mention it somewhere, but if you dont mind, how much you pay total for yours?

found solution for the backlit KB

glow in the dark KB sticker. :)

now only if I found a good price, I may going back to P330....

If portability isn't much of a concern to you anyway, then I agree, you might just as well go for the M14x. Or something else entirely. It'll be larger, but you'll get to configure it to your needs and it's much easier to get hold of. You'll be able to choose a more powerful CPU, higher screen res, an ODD and get a more powerful version of the 555M. Natadiem paid $1600 for the full speced version including shipping. And I know it's a small difference, but the screen is 768p, not 720p.

Thanks Convel, I paid 1600 USD indeed :).

Honnestly if the notebook doesn't move, I see no reason why take an M14x instead of a Clevo 150m.

    It's 200 grams more for a GTX 485M/HD 6990M/580M.
You can plug the notebook to a 30inch screen and enjoy latest game at 2560x1600 res...I tried it myself, very nice :).

Screen is also way better than M14x even with the option.
And nvidia GPU's allows 3.5 hours battery even withouth optimus.

For me the LG P330, is sexy and thin. Got good comments about the thin bezel from j-girls.
And it plays game, all of them.
Now if they could release the same with IPS screen, it would be the perfect notebook for me.
Oh yeah, I forgot = you can buy spare battery and switch easily. Not always the case for "ultrabook".

Also don't forget there are 2 SSD. Or 1 SSD/HDD. I am waiting for the samsung psata 256gb...

No thanking needed; I'll provide information where I can. ;)
I think Natadiem contacted a shop directly (through a friend?) to get it at that price, so it's not quite the same way the rest of us purchased one. Should still be doable though. Just out of curiosity: is there more than the aspect of aesthetics that made you stick with this form factor? Being for home use and all. Also, did you check out the Y480? Good luck in the decision making! :)

Actually for me it was a 'battle' too, trying to figure out my needs and which laptop would best suit me. In the end, like Natadiem said, I can bring my P330 to work and meetings, and I can't really bring an AW M11 or M14 to a business meeting, so I went with the P330.

I guess the next Alienware product line should called
    "Alienware for Business" ;)

but seriously, if you work for a company(unless its your own company), dont your company will supply a laptop for you like mine does? if you had to use your own laptop, does your company compensate for that? that would be sweet too.

man, i got get ride of my two laptop before i go to my next one

any of you guys who got the P330 is in US?

I just went to LG US site and chat with them, they said if I do get one from Korean, I would not get the warranty in US.

But you guys mentioned the global warranty which should cover US as well then.

Does that golbal warranty writen on paper come with that laptop?

I'm not sure if its written (I'm assuming it should be though), mine came with manuals and everything else all in korean so I really dont know.

I asked a friend to get mine from the LG store in korea, and I told her to ask if they have international warranty. She asked and said they do have it.

We're given a choice of a desktop or laptop (I picked desktop for work). But no we don't get compensation for our own laptops ><

Most companies give you a laptop, and its usually a business class low end Dell or HP. Most places don't let you or like you to use your own laptop for business purposes because of licensing of software and support.

Ya we had the option of a business class dell lol. But ya I guess every company's different, ours is fine with us using our own computers if we wanted to.

For nearly 10 years we were an exclusively Dell shop. That ended a couple of years ago, after some truly bad service from Dell. Now, we gat an allowance and can buy any of the "approved" notebooks that our IT people have sanctioned (mostly Sony, Dell, HP Business Class and Thinkpads).

thats so nice of your company, my company only give us low end desktop and laptop. and not allow have your own(not that I want to use my own anyway)

they said they do so that you could buy it at the spot ;) LG just dont sell laptop in US, I serously dont think they will provide warranty. thank god now there is Y480 and gagabyte make a similar laptop, I think I will go with those on the end. so sad, I truely like the P330 looks.

To be honest I was a lil worried about that too, which was why I really wanted my friend to help me and get me a translated copy of what looks like to be a warranty card/sheet. But she's been really busy and just didn't have a chance to look at it yet. I'll remind her again and I'll update you if I get more information regarding international warranty.

I too agree that Y480 and gigabyte offer very good alternatives but LG P330 does indeed have the looks! Loving that blue colour too lol

Well the y470 didnt have very good build quality, probably the y480 has the same except internals.. and the gigabyte 2442 has very crappy build quality and a small fixed battery (up to 5 hours gigabyte says, so more likely 3 to 4 hours).. Remember the gigabyte 2442 is very light, but only because its only made of plastic (except the lid whcih is brushed aluminium)

And you cant compare them directly, the lenovo and gigabyte are both 14 inch notebooks

I would say there is still no valid alternative to the lg p330 till now.. but who knows what comes

Well the P330 seems a more complete package. It was the only laptop I could find with size(weight), looks, performance, and build quality in a 13.3 inch.

I dont really mind the screen size as long as the weight is around or under 4lb.
thats the sweet spot for me.

P330 is nice, the only thing holding me back really is the low resolution.
    talking about new ipad 3, 10" screen with 2000 x 1500!
Apple is crazy, but that is nice ;)

Low resolution is the reason why gt 555m can max everything. Full HD is already too much for this mid gpu.
Therefore game like d3 looks already small with this res and 13inch screen...

Well, with very fine resolution you should be able to scale well to lower resolutions and everything should look decent. Apple already said that everything will have to be rethought out as far as scaling for such fine resolution screens. You would almost be better off with vector graphics instead of bitmap because it would scale very well. However current hardware isn't geared towards that.
