Seems to be a pretty decent laptop for the price.

Quality wise i have never used a LG.

Heh, someone tried to sell me one of those today at future shop. I told them I would have to think about it. I was kind of annoyed because I was all set to buy something else and the guy clearly wanted to push me towards something with a higher price point, without caring about what I needed.

Still, it was very nice and solid looking, pretty light with good specifications. I'm just wary of buying from LG since I don't know too much about it.

I just bought this laptop less than a month ago (EXACTLY the same except 3 gigs of RAM instead of 4...$100 cheaper too!).

Great so far. The keyboard is MUCH better than the recent model Acer that the LG replaced. Hardly any bloatware either. Rates a 4 on the Vista scale as-is.

Construcion is durable and feels solid. The two latches to open the clamshell are very solid as well.

The underside is clean and upgrading components should be a breeze. Mine is very quiet and doesn't heat up too much.

The only thing is that 2-3 hours per battery charge is what you should expect...no more.

Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase.

I've had an LG-R405 for almost a year.
Got mine at NCIX before they started to sell 'em at Future Shop.

It's a reliable laptop. No problems as of far, keyboard feels pretty good.

The only gripe I had with it is replacing the ram, as mine came with only 1 gig. Manual upgrade requires taking your laptop apart. Luckily, the one FS sells has 4 gigs, so that shouldn't be a problem at all.

A year ago, mine was $1000. $899 is a steal, though if you want to do some light gaming, I suggest you not invest in this, and go for AMD processor + HD3200 IGP.
