The original power adaptor died early on in life, so I bought a targus universal powersupply of same voltage. :)

12 months later, and now there is no power to my laptop. The connection in the computer, where the power lead plugs in is loose and wriggley.

I think I have killed the internal power unit. Hopefully a bit of solder will fix it
    but
I don't know how to get into the guts of the computer

Does anyone have diagrams/pdf manual on how to dismantle the LW60 without causing utter destruction??

    Cheers

Do it slowly on a big clean surface.
Organize what part where is it coming from.
If got bad memory then take pictures with camera.
You could dig up ebay for a broken notebook with the same part.

the soldering bit doesn't scare me, if that's what needs doing, :p

it's getting the notebook apart to access the powerplug on the MB that scares me
I believe the power socket is integrated with the MB, so if it not repairable a new MB is needed. :(
I'm not likely to go that far with it, but I would like to get into the guts of it without breaking anything

Thanks for the replies so far though :D

I recently dismantled a couple of LW60's to get parts to fix another one. First you need to remove the keyboard. Remove 2 screws at the bottom of the laptop. They have a tiny keyboard symbol next to them. Then at the top of the keyboard there are 4 smal lugs or clips holding it in. Push them up one at a time with a small screwdriver and the keyboard pops out. Then lift the clips on the motherboard where the ribon cable connects to release the cable from the motherboard. Next you need to remove all the screws from the bottom of the laptop including the ones under the battery. The laptop should come apart then. Hope this helps.
