    Hello,

I've just recently purchased a LW70 ;-) and my 2 pair of 1GB ram will arrival today. Just love the laptop, though it's a bit (actually noticable) heavy compare to my 14" Dell.

I know I can put an extra RAM into the 2nd slot by opening the compartment quite easily. However, does anyone had tried to upgrade the memory in the 1st slot (which I guess is under the keyboard)?

I'm not sure this is do-able by an end user so:
    1) Where's the 1st slot anyway?
    2) Will it void the warrantly by upgrading the first slot?

    Regards,
    Nevin

    it's not so easy.
all of lg nb use two pair of ram on mainbord(for example 512 use two pair of 256) one of them is reachable (under yor notebook you can find the place)but the second one is other side of mainbord.for secend one you must uninstall most of your notebook part like keyboard lcd and...
it's better use LG service for your upgrade.

I've called the local service center and they can upgrade the memory modules for me at no charge. They did mention the internal RAM slot cannot be opened by end user otherwise the action will void the warrantly.

I have an LS 70. I purchased it with 2x512 MB DIMMS. I now have 2x1GB DIMS. I have replaced the one at the back - next to the wireless card, but cannot find the other. I presume this is the same as the LW70. I'll have to take it in early next week to have the other DIMM replaced. Its a real bummer. Took the keyboard off, nothing under there.

So you havnt tried yourself then?

Only the keyboard needs to be removed to get to the second RAM module (on the LW70 anyway, dunno about the others).

    Its easy....
Undo the two screws on the back side of the case that have a little keyboard symbol next to them.
Along the top of the keyboard are 3 or 4 latches that need to be pushed in (use a small screwdriver), then the keyboard can be lifted out (watch out for the cable, you can leave it done up though).

I took all the casing off my LW70 a few hours ago... ill put photos of the internals, etc up later.
