I am getting a new LS50 next week. As the memory is only 512 mb and hd is only 4200 rpm, I will upgrade them.

However, I failed to find any info regarding how to do it.

could anybody share some experience or provide any info in this regard?

I guess info about the upgrade of precious model should also apply to the next LS50 series.

    thanks in advance.

Under the laptop you will have a memory comparment and a minipici. Use a phillips screw driver to take off the screw that the plastic cover...

as for the Hd it's also under the laptop.
Minipci, memory and HD are very user friendly upgrade....

    have fun...

I upgraded the hard disk of my lm50 to Hitachi 7200. It was very easy.

First you put the new disk in a usb enclosure and connect the enclosure to the notebook.

In the next stage you have to copy the old hard disk to the new one using a disk imaging software such as Acronis Trueimage or Symantec Ghost to copy the old disk to the new one.

Now release the battery as a precaution.

The disk is in the front left side of the notebook. you open one screw that holds it with a philips screwdriver, pull it out, push the new disk in, close the holding screw, put back the battery, turn on the computer and, voila, the cumputer boots on as if nothing changed.

I phoned in, and they told me putting an extra stick does not void the warranty. They put in ONE stick of Ram if its 512mb, not two, thank god![ :p]

Is there a way to upgrade the PATA drive in an LW60 to a SATA drive?

According to LG Australia the SATA connection is on the motherboard and used via an adapter to control a PATA HDD.
It should be just a case of disconnecting the adapter and connecting a SATA HDD direct to the motherboard but I haven't tried this or even noticed the SATA connector on my LW70 so I cannot say for sure, just what I was told by LG management
