    How to increase shared video memory in vista?

    Hello!
    I have the LG S1, and just wondering, how can i increase the shared memory? I've already searched in bios but I didn't find it...

    you wouldn´t wanna do that. trust me.

    you do have a dedicated card (x1600), and thus it should have dedicated memory also. how much memory does your card have ?

    if it has 256MB, there is no real need for more graphics ram. this has been discussed here several times. the shared video memory thing is more a thing to make notebook users feel better when they see a higher ram value, but it actually does not effect performance.

    but the downside is that you drain ram from your system. for the dedicated cards with 256MB+ it makes more sense to actually turn the shared memory off. ATT ( ati tray tools ) can turn off the videomemory for ati cards. and if you don´t want to install this software, you need to find the registry switch for it. i have seen this registry switch for xp / xp64 and windows server 2008 x64, so i think you will find it in vista also.
