I am planning to get a laptop for university and I really like the T1 but will the harddrive drag down the performance alot? Will it be able to play games like CS1.6, Warcraft3, or WoW?

Its not really the hard drive that would drag down performance, it's more the integrated Intel Integrated 945GM video chip that will slow it down. It's really not made for gaming. I haven't tried playing any of those games on it. The highest-requirement game I've tried is Ragnarok Online, and it plays quite well, but it's definitely not a 3D-intensive game.

So if you want to play the latest 3D games, this is probably not the one for you, look for a laptop with a Radeon or Geforce graphics card. The S1 is the 15.4" model with the same look as the T1, it includes the Radeon x1600 which is one of the best mobile video options available; of course, it is also nearly 50% heavier than the T1 (S1=6.2lbs, whereas T1=4.2lbs). Your choice will be a tradeoff: size & weight (and noise) vs gaming-running power.

I will be carrying it with me to classes everyday which was one of the main reason I looked at the T1. I won't be playing any new games on it, just old games with Warcraft3 and CS1.6 being the ones I play the most. I don't even play WoW but I am thinking of starting and just wondered if my laptop can handle it. I might be bringing my desktop with me to university so the laptop will mostly be used for typing, programming, internet, watching movie, etc. By the way, how hot does the T1 run and how long does the battery last? The other notebooks I was thinking of buying was the Macbook and Asus W7Jbut people said it ran too hot and the W7J's battery life is only close to three hours.

Edit: Is there any reviews or benchmark of the T1 beside that review on this forum?

Really, if you game, battery time will go down significantly. Computers lasting 3 hours might last a little under 2 under intense gaming. Although it's important, if you want to game, you'll make sure you're near an outlet.

Maybe look at the Dell XPS M1210. 12.1" screen with a Go7400. Not too bad...

With regular, web surfing, emailing, etc. use so far, my T1 stays room temp. to barely warm. As of yet, I've hardly felt it get warm at all. Battery life is dependent on the usage, but at full power and 6/8 brightness, Battery Miser quotes over 5 hours. I think its between 4 and 5 hours, anyway.

Does your T1 have a low voltage Core Duo, or a regular one?

T1 have a regular one, for x1600(ATI) or go 7600(nvida) video can handle all the games. It is very hard to find out a higher video for 14" in this market right now except 17" Dell one. I still like its' 1400x900 resolution, this is the highest one on those of 14" LCD.

i have heard that wow will run okay with the gma950. there will be some lag, and you won't be able to play with all the eye candy and high resolution, but it will run.

Think the T1 could handle Sims2?
