do you want to clean the whole unit?

usually if i remove all the screws on my s1 on the bottom i can take out most of the covers.

all you need to do is take out the ram and hdd cover and take a compressor and spray it. if you want a whole haul make shure you replace the thermal compound on the cpu with somethinf better like ocz +1 compound.

    1) Unscrew the 2 keyboard buttons from under your laptop
    2) behind Delete and Scr Lk there is a black tab thing push it in with a flat head screw driver and the top right corner of your keyboard should come up a little
**you may need to use the buttons to pull the keyboard up gently while u press the black thing**
    3) do that 3 more times behind
    F10+F11
    F6
    Esc + F1
    4) the bottom part of the keyboard comes out by gently pulling the keyboard towards the monitor
    **don't pull really hard**
    5) there is a connector thing in the middle under the keyboard pull the plastic thing up gently **not the flappy thing but the rectangle thing**
    6) now your keyboard is free and the fan is at the top left corner

Sorry for the non-technical details as I only know this from experience, I have no idea what those parts are called

Hi Issachar. Mine is also a R1 Pro. Great Notebook. The instructions given by essense are Ok. Since 4 months I have the same noise in the fan but no solution by cleaning :( . It seems about the fan itself (build) . I´m looking in the market a replacement because I don´t want to wait until dies. If you solve the problem with cleaning tell us. I will give a try for a second chance on cleaning...Good Luck!!! :)
