Did you try using the driver CD that came with your S1?
When I did a format I used it to get all my drivers instead of downloading them for LG website…

and then i checked for updates using inelegant update...

If you go on LG's site you'll find a specific piece of software labelled SRS.ZIP. While they have a hardware button it's all implemented in software. This sucks, as you can't use it while gaming (at least on the A1)!!

Note that THAT software only works for SRS. To have the volume display online you need another piece of software called OSD.ZIP. Then it'll work. Just load the Intelligent Updater and do a Manual Update and it'll show you what you're missing.

for some reason when i try to install OSD from the LG disc i get the error message

"The procedure entry point SetupConfigureWmiFromInfSectionA could not be located in the dynamic link library SETUPPAPI.dll"

and when i use the one downloaded from LG website i didn't get an error message but i was unable to open the program..

I have the SRS application installed but it still doesn't let me use the button..

does anyone know whats going on?

Make sure you're fully updated and all XP patches are applied. Sounds, though, like something got improperly installed/didn't fully install. If you have any XP updates that fail, investigate why and rectify the problem. I"ve had MANY problems with programs not working/installing that were due to patches NOT being applied.

yeah i do have all the patches and automatic update to the latest files.
my sound works and i can change the SRS controls in the menu, but i just can't do it from the button on the notebook..

volume control works as well.. just no on screen display..

for those of u who have on screen display, is it a program you have to run in the background for it to work? because i tried clicking on the hotkey.exe file nothing happens..

the program called "On Screen Display" and it should startup automatically when the window starts and you should see it's icon on the taskbar ...

try going to LG site and search for SRS driver but try using and older version if it's there ....

if nothing worked then try Uninstalling the software then reinstall it again, that might help fixing the problem ...
