    Hi guys,

I got a LG LS-50 and the I'm getting graphical artifacts on it.

    P-m 1.8Ghz
    1gig ram
    9700 mobility
    15"LCD

    I've bought it for $2500 January, 2005, so it's just 2yrs old.

I took my laptop to LG's approved service centre at Highpoint last week.
It's currently under assessment which cost $50 (Australian currency) for an exact quotation of the repair.

The receptionist estimated that the total cost will be approximately $800 after labour.

It's very likely they're gonna replace my motherboard if the graphics card is integrated on the motherboard. It's not the LCD's fault because i have tested it with the external video port on my desktop's monitor.

Anyway, I would like to get some opinion on the maximum I should spend to repair the laptop.

At the moment I'm thinking $800 would be my maximum. If the cost is over that, i may as well buy a new laptop with Intel Core2 Duo.

have you tried hooking it up to a external monitor my lcd had all green stuff on side of screen but the vga output was fine. I wouldnt spend more then 400 on repair you can get a new laptop for no much more then the 800 to repair your 2 year old one.

    Thanks for your reply.

Yep, i've already tried to hook it up on an external monitor but it shows the exact same artifacts.

If i was to get a new laptop, I'll probably need to spend at least another $1000 (Australian currency) on top of the repair cost.

Never again am I going buy another LG unless they offer cheaper support after warranty or 3yrs warranty.

I bought this laptop 2yrs ago because it had attractive specifications at an affordable price.

    Nope.

    Unless NHC did something.

However, i've been using NHC for 2months before this happened.

My laptop does indicate frightening temperature figures.

When I'm playing Warcraft3, CPU gets as hot as 80c, HDD is 60c and GPU i think 65c.
    Ambient temperature at around 28-29c.

Even so, i don't play that many games on my laptop. I only go to lan parties maybe once a month.

I mainly use it for uni assignments (Programming), surfing the net and watching movies on my bed.

****, just got my quotation today

it cost $995AUD to repair my laptop.

I decided that i'm not gonna repair it and maybe sell my laptop as spare parts.

Anybody knows any organisation that buys spare parts for laptops?
