Did anybody managed to get the Express Vista Upgrade with there purchase of the new LG Laptop?
Since I bought my S1 (almost month ago) I couldn't manage to apply for this upgrade. It keeps telling me it will be open shortly ….

    http://www.lge.com/products/computer/notebook/WindowsVista.jsp#

I don’t know if there is another sit to apply for the upgrade cuz the clock is ticking and I'm worried I'll pass this offer …

PS: i bought my S1 from Dubai (UAE) and they told me to use the website above to apply for the upgrade..

Last I checked the link said the site "will open shortly". Been like that for over a week. Also, the windows vista site links to the same LG website, so no go that way too.

I'm thinking i'll wait a while after i end up getting the upgrade dvd, to see what glitches there are and if they get fixed or if i can live with them.

Plus, i hear the express upgrade dvd's won't arrive til march.

I e-mailed the address listed and here is the canned response I got back has a different link. Hope this helps you guys.

Thank you for contacting the Upgrade Redemption Center for Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007.

Your email has been received, and will usually be processed within 1 business day.

The following is provided for your information:

To place an order, obtain manufacturer-specific pricing, or see if you are qualified to purchase an upgrade, please visit https://upgradeweb.moduslink.com/vista/default.aspx.

If you have attempted to place an order and experienced any difficulty, our response will help you to continue the order.

    FAQ:

    COA Problems:
The Upgrade Redemption Center has been made aware of an issue affecting Certificate Of Authenticity or (COA) numbers used when placing orders via the Upgrade web site. We are now informed that this issue has been resolved.

Due to a high volume of contacts, we have been unable to respond timely to some of you who contacted the Upgrade Redemption Center, and we apologize for the delay.

The root cause of the COA issue for a majority of customers is a “locking” mechanism designed to restrict duplicate use of COAs and is intended to protect COA owners. In effect, if a customer’s order session timed out or a customer navigated away from the web site, the COA would be locked and require a reset by the Upgrade Redemption Center. Your COA will be reset within 24 hours of it being locked. If your email relates to this issue, please allow 3 hours to pass and then return to the web and place your order.

If you're referring to the express upgrade website, I had the same problem. It turns out I was hitting the wrong button -- it's kind of confusing. The first button is to track an existing order. You want the button on the right (which just says Windows Vista or something). This starts the "request upgrade" process.

Anyway, I've still had trouble with it taking all the info (my sys was an Acer) and getting the "COA is invalid" code. I called about this over a week ago; they answered promptly (surprise!), but just took my name and contact info, and never heard back from them, and the online sys still says invalid too. Very frustrating that this is handed off to a 3rd party that doesn't seem extrememly motivated to make it work smoothly.

They ask me for 42€ for postage and taxes. Expensive for a simple DVD package.

$60 in shipping for me too.

And i managed to be able to order 5 volumes :) i just upped the number on my COA and serial number heh.. but shipping was zomg.

Anyway, here's the rest of my story...

I use an online service from my bank that simulates a real VISA card (with real money ofc, but theres a limit of the amount you add with the creation of the "card" and thus good for internetspending!).

At first i got a failure, i checked my bankaccount to see that i was lacking the right amount of money. So i fixed that and tried again, this time it also failed. Or so it seemed, at least i got a page that resembled the failure page ALOT! And i pressed back and checked my accounts again, this time seeing the same amount of money reserved to be charged!

So somehow it (Microsoft) took $60 (for a 6-8week long "shipping/handling") worth of my money, didnt send a confirmation email (this was last thursday/wednesday) and hasnt responded to my email to the first of the two email-addresses.

Ill be calling them if i havent gotten an email back by wednesday/thursday.
