    Hi,

After checking my XP Pro SP2 DEP info, I found out the the hardware DEP is "turned off", saying that my CPU doesn't support it.

    I'm using a P1 Pro laptop, with C2D T5600 CPU - a CPU I assumed has hardware DEP.However, I couldn't find a way to turn it on using the BIOS and/or XP.

Can anyone confirm that his/her P1 has hardware DEP turned on ?
Do you know if - for unknown reason - the T5600 doesn't even support it ?

I also tried that with Vista RC2, but with the same results.

    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Elan :)

Hi Elangb. I have P1 with T5500, and suffer the same fate. Hardware DEP is present (as shown by SecurAble tool), however it is disabled in BIOS, and - whoops! - BIOS does not have an option to enable it!! Thanks, LG! oh no, should I rather say NO, thanks?! I've never seen such crappy website as theirs. They offer NO bios-es for P1 or other Core Duo laptops. I've emailed them 2 (TWO) times, so far no reply.
I'll try playing with external BIOS editor and let you know of my findings.

    here's the answer from support.
Dear Andrei, Thank you for inquiring of LG Electronics. We certainly do wish that we could be of some assistance in this matter. Unfortunately, since this unit is not available in the United States, as you have stated, we have no information regarding the setup or features of this unit. This includes the XD bit. Regretably, it will not be possible to assist you in this regard. You may try LG Canada. Some of these laptops are available there, and will be infinitely more easily understood than Korean assistance. For further information or troubleshooting, you may contact us at 800-243-0000 for LG Customer Service assistance. An agent will be glad to assist you. Thank you again for contacting LG Electronics.
