The title says it; my screen for my LG R500 suddenly went out, giving red and white stripes and I want to use the laptop with the external monitor until Monday when I'll call them (no service hours on weekends), however, the external display causes the notebook to use the vgasave service, using 8bit colours and a distorted overall screen. I have checked the device manager and the nVidia 8600GS seems to have an error. I have tried reinstalling, restarting, disable & then enable, and of the such but to no success. I also have to switch to external using fn + f7 before it starts to boot into Vista. Is there a solution to this? Thank you in advance; :)

    - P.S. I have the 3 year warranty on the laptop, but for how long is the battery warranted for? Because my battery have shorted and only holds about 20 minutes worth of charge now. Just wondering.

I think the notebook batteries generally have a warranty for 1 yr(but it should say somewhere).

Also, I think your video card is dead/dying.

I looked through what I got with my laptop and it didn't say anything; so I just wondered. Because I know some batteries have 6 month warranties and such I got worried.

Hm you think so? On the extended monitor it distorted colours and went into 8-bit mode (graphics driver was not working; thus the vgasave) and the laptop lcd showed nothing but distorted, stripes of red/green/white...so I was thinking it could be a combination of both.

How is the LG service also? I heard they take awhile sometimes and just gets tiring, but I do need this for school. If I was to call them tomorrow and ship it then or the following day could I expect it back under 2 weeks? A month at max would be how long I'll be willing to part with the laptop.
