Hi,
A key on my LS50 notebook has broken off. I can't get it to stay on. Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks

IF you are under warranty, send the notebook back for a replacement.
If not, search for replacement keyboards on eBay or through a search engine, and you can replace it yourself, if you feel comfortable.
You might, as a last resort, try gluing the key back, but I don't suggest it since you can mess up other things if you used super glue or something similar. -
I also have a broken key on my LG LS50. My kitten had his claws under the key when I pulled him off my laptop. Warranty is long gone. I don't want to buy a whole keyboard. I'll superglue as a last resort.
BUT there appears to be a little clip which holds the key to the contack pad below, sandwiching the silicone pad between. The little clip clicks securely into the key itself, but so far I have not been able to secure it to the structures on the contact pad of the circuit board.
Can anybody tell me what the securing method is? -
If you find out that your key can not be fixed there are other alternatives to buying a new keyboard.
You can always replace the broken key with another one on your laptop using software.
If only one key is broken I recommend the Keyboard Remapper from EasyToUseTools since its free for one key.
You can get it from here: http://www.easytousetools.com/keyboard_remapper/
Another free tool to that is: http://www.inchwest.com/mapkeyboard.aspx
Hope this help!

Don't use glue.
If the retainer clip and the keycap are not broken, you can reassemble the parts onto the keyboard. Check the auctions on ebay for laptop keyboard key, you should be able to find one with a guide which shows you how. The guide doesn't have to be the exact one for your keyboard, they're all fairly similar. Basically you first attach the retainer clip to the small hooks on the keyboard and then snap the keycap onto the clip.
I guess remapping could work as well, but if you're a touch typist that's going to be very awkward.
