I dont suppose the P1 Express Dual is for sale any where?

The only place i could find it for sale wanted -way- more than it was worth.

i've looked and i cant readily find any place to buy these notebooks...Does LG just not sell their notebooks in the US?

No, they don't sell in the US. From what I've read, they had a non-compete w/ IBM in the US and even tho it's apparently over, LG never bothered to start selling in the US afterwords. You can get it via canadian retailers, here's a couple

    P1 @ cancomputer

    P1 @ titan networks

Hi, here are the real specs.
    http://www.cancomputer.com/index.php?sku=3860&PHPSESSID=51bbedda23aa698abaed9ffcac60fbff
Also, yes this laptop is sorta released in Canada, unfortunately I can't find it anywhere... im still searching so i can do a mini review.
But i will call LG on friday and get some more info and so that i can call them and see one in real life.

Also i did find a mini review of the Lg P1 this one had a 1.8ghz and X1400.
Here's what it said (sry can't find the link :( )
    - The reviewers found this notebook as a Desktop Replacement and considered it as one.
    - They like the quality of it
    - Beautiful screen with wide viewing angles + glossy screen
    - They like the keybaord and that it has a unique numpad... yes the keyboard is fullsize 99 keys.
    - Batterylife was 3 hours using the Power modes with a 6 cell battery.

We don't know the exact setting for the calculations for their batterylife but my guess it would be around 3.5 hours, with 800mhz, downclock the GPU, run at as low screen brightness as you can possibly read at... meaning around 60-70%, but if you can handle going lower then do so. Put Wifi on, turn off Bluetooth.

So hopefully this would get 3.5 hours with a 2.0ghz and a X1600.

When i did speak to the LG rep like 2 weeks ago, he did say it lasted like 4-4.5 hours... but that coulda been salesmen pitch lines or something lol.

As for the Materials it is using, Magnesium allow on the insides, and plastic on the outside, this is the same for the chasis and lid.

Once I find one on display in Ontario, hopefully near me, will double check all of these things...

Supposedly Futureshop is spose to have it but I've checked the site and still don't see anything and shipments were spose to be recieved about 1 weeks ago :S, so i dunno lol.

ohwell just wait and see i guess.

    Thanks,

    MysticGolem

I'm quite curious, however, what the differences are between the following two models:
    P1-P200A9
    and
    P1-J225A8

I was wondering that myself, it's kind of hard to decipher LG's model numbering. This vendor has a lot of different model numbers with relatively detailed specs if you want to try and crack the code :p

yah i nitocied that too, and here's what found out.

On the LG site for Canada, the P1 model number is P1-P200A9, and the specs are:
    http://www.cancomputer.com/index.php...ed9ffcac60fbff

as for the other model number, it might have been another number from antoher country that the Canadian companies used for temp. for pre order untill the real model number came from when they shipped the P1s.

I still have no clue where to find one in Toronto... if anyone can find it plz let me know so i can do a mini review ASAP...

    Thanks,

    MysticGolem

my guess is that the difference is in hard drive type: one of these models is probably with PATA and the other with SATA. try checking it.

Q: "What is the material in its chassis? (plastic, magnesium alloy, carbon fiber, etc.)?"

Markerz and Jude thanks for the info :D

but it seems we are down to 3 things left.

For the LG P1 we need to know: (rate out of 1-10, ten being the best)
    - Build Quality (screen flex, chasis flex, keyboard flex, wristpad flex)
    - Heat and Noise (how well it dissipates heat)
    - Batterylife ( give details of ALL settings in order to give us a real life experiance of batterylife)

So far i got 2 quotes on Batterylife
    - LG person with the Canadian version, said 4-4.5 hours
    - Person in Europe using a the European version gets 3 hours

    so yah... let see,

    Thanks,

    MysticGolem

I beleive the difference between the two model numbers is as follows:

    P1-P200A9: WXGA screen
    P1-J225A8: SXGA screen

This is the only difference i have been able to notice between these two. Having an extrememly hard time deciding between this and asus. So far this system has more to offer then the asus, but availability is tough to come by as they dont sell directly in the US.

    Decisions... decisions...

i think the differences between the two canadian part numbers is

P1-P200A9: Up to 512MB Video via Hypermemory so no dedicated mem
P1-J225A8: Dedicated 128MB Video with no Hypermemory
