    Hi,

I have to install 4GB of RAM as per the Crucial memory configurator tool but it won't boot.

I am trying to use Vista but that is not really relevant as I cannot boot from cd/dvd either to do an OS install.

I am using model number S1-MDGDG. It works fine with 2GB, 3GB but 4GB simply does not boot into anything meaningful.

I have contacted LG and they seem to think that 2GB is the limit for this model.

Has anyone managed to get this working? I am thinking that i need a BIOS update maybe?

    Ian

to USE 4gb you need vista x64 (64 bit) .... to boot from cd/dvd go into your bios ( f8 or f10 at startup) and change boot priority to cd/dvd. I think this is what your asking?

Yeah, I have tried that but that does not seem to be the problem. I can't boot from anything with 4GB. It takes several minutes to read the DVD (I have tried several) and then reboots itself. It won't boot from my hard disk either, it reboots halfway through the Windows boot process. If I remove the extra memory, the existing vista installation boots fine and/or I can boot from a DVD.

You might have an IRQ issue with the extra memory. I would try some different memory and If it is still an issue flash your bios if at all possible. good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I have tried different memory and it didn;t work.

Does anyone know where I can get a new bios from, or what the latest bios version is for this model?

contact your computer seller/reseller. They might even have in on their website.
