    I changed out the thermal grease on my thinkpad few days ago, I was pretty shocked to see just how thin/flexible n cheap the keyboard bezel plastic is, it seems than now the T series has become more "consumer" oriented? and the X series geared torwards business users who don't care for graphics?

    No, I wouldn't exactly say that. The T series is larger physically and therefore more prone to the physical aspects of the weight and need for plastic strength. It is true that the X series might feel more sturdy as a result, but aside from the x30x model, I do not believe Lenovo is segmenting them as business vs "consumer."

    I have both the X61 and the T61 and yeah the X61 does feel more sturdy and better built, but from my thoughts about it, as Jaredy mentioned, I believe that it's mainly because of the physical differences between the two...
    The hinges on the T feel A LOT sturdier than the ones on the x61 I must say :)

    Lenovo has used the same materials since the '60 series. Smaller laptops (in general) feel sturdier than larger laptops, since they have less hollow space to flex.

    They are both (the X and T series) business class laptops, and both made relatively the same. The T series has the built in roll cage, just like the X30X, X200 (I beleive), etc. So, to me, they are the same build quality, just in a smaller package.

    hmm I guess I was wrong than. Doesn't the x series have a carbon fiber based structure tho?

    The x300 and I believe x200s does use carbon fiber in the lid (primarily for weight). However, I don't believe the x200 or x61 uses any carbon fiber.

    Case materials as quoted by TA Book...

    X200, X200T - Material: magnesium alloy
    X200s - Display cover: Carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (top),
    glass-fiber reinforced plastic (side walls); Base: Magnesium alloy
    X300 - Display cover: Carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (top),
    glass-fiber reinforced plastic (side walls); Base: Magnesium alloy
    T400 - Top: Super-Elastic PolyCarbonate (SEPC);
    Bottom: Carbon-Fiber Reinforced Plastic

    We have both an X200 Tablet and a T400. No complaints regarding build quality of either, even from my wife (T400) who was using a T43 before.

    The information is in the Tabook.
    The T61/61p uses the same materials as the T400/500: Top: Super-Elastic PolyCarbonate (SEPC); Bottom: Carbon-Fiber Reinforced Plastic

    So, a claim that the X series is better built than the T series may actually have some merit: the X-series uses magnesium alloy for the base, whereas the T series uses carbon-fiber reinforced plastic.
