Is the Helix screen too small for normal use?

My X230 just died on me which is a 12" of course. I really love the look of the Helix but I'm so nervous to buy it based on the screen since it seems so small and such a high resolution. I'd literally never use it in Windows 8 mode but always the desktop. Some reviews have said websites etc are really hard to read due to the text being so small. I use Excel, Outlook, lots of web browsing etc for work so just wondering if it's a bad idea to go with this if it's so tiny? I haven't seen anyone complaining about the screen being too small or too hard to read but just nervous to take a chance.

I ended buying a Helix just to try it. Having been super fed up with 1366 x 768 on the x220t and x230t, I thought and still think the 1080p screen is fantastic. I could see stuff being too small for some people, though. Best thing to do would be to try to find some other 11" 1080p laptop or tablet and take a look for yourself.

Yes, because the restocking fee on a Helix will be hefty. I think you're justified in being concerned. Text will be very small. If you want to use it only on the desktop, there certainly are some other notebooks that might be a better fit and don't have the resolution cranked up.

I like the HD resolution on the X2x0 notebooks. It's easy to read and scrolling is effortless with the stick.

It depends on you. I used a Surface Pro for a month with 1080p resolution in a 10.5" display and preferred to use it at 100% instead of scaling it at 150% like most. I loved the fine resolution but I can see how it would not be for everybody. The higher resolution has a side-effect of making note-taking look more naturally sized when printed.
