Hello! Been lurching here for a while. I use a T43 for work and it has been a very solid laptop, so I'm thinking of a T61 for home.

I've configured a T61p and a T61 with the same specs and the p comes to $213 more? Is the only difference the graphics card?
NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M (256MB Open GL) for T61p
    NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M (128MB) for T61

And is it worth it for the better card? I don't really do a lot of gaming, but may hook it to my tv.

    Thanks!

Well, that's pretty much it. The P stands for performance and usually means high end, but with cto you can customize either machine the way you like. The video card is much stronger but if you don't need it, save your money.

Yes, the graphics card is the only difference...Although I think the FX570 is required for the WUXGA, so in a sense, it is also part of the difference if you choose it. Also, I don't know if they only allow the p to access the higher end processers - Penryn, etc. but it wouldn't matter unless you choose one of them.

Keep in mind that there is no S-Video port on the T61s, so if that was going to be your medium of output then you should probably look to another option.

IIRC the video card in the T61p is a bit more power hungry than an equivalent T61 with discrete graphics so battery life may be compromised somewhat. Of course, if maximum battery life is a top priority then one needs to look at a T61 with integrated graphics instead.

depends on if you need the additional performance. If you don't play games or do 3d intensive work you probably won't need the p version.
