I ordered a R61 yesterday with only 2GB of RAM (in one slot) in hopes of upgrading it cheaper on my own later, since crucial.com has it for about half the price Lenovo was trying to sell it to me for. For when I do order it and the laptop does get here, what is required to actually install the RAM on this particular model? (as far as opening it up). I couldn't tell from the pictures. Could anyone give me a clue?
If it makes a difference, here are the specs:
    42X5952 SBB INTEL CORE2DUO PROC. T9300
42V8012 VBB MS WIN VISTA HOME BASIC
42V9074 SBB MSWIN VIS HBASI32 US ENG
    42V8882 SBB 15.4" WSXGA+,CAMERA,BT
    42X5968 SBB NVIDIA NVS 140M, PCCARD/LE
    41W2064 VBB 2GB PC2-5300 667MHZ 1DIMM
    42V8195 SBB KEYBOARD US ENGLISH
    42V8884 SBB ULTRNAV TRACKPOINTTOUCHPAD
    42X5221 SBB 160GB HDD,7200RPM
42V8892 SBB DVD REC 8X MAX ULTRABAYENH
    42V8177 SBB INT.WIRE.WIFI/LINK4965AGN
    62P6054 VBB INTEGR.BLUETOOTH PAN
    42V8188 SBB 6 CELL LI-ION BATT.(2.4AH)

All good except the Vista... bleh. They only offered Linux with the integrated graphics card. x_X

So what would I need to open up to install the RAM? :)

Okay, thanks, I just get worried about these things. I'm great with software but always afraid I'll mess up my hardware. XD

I take it these Instructions are for installing Ram into the first slot (under the palm rest) there is a second slot on the bottom of the laptop itself, correct?

Both RAM slots are definately under the palmrest :) I just added a 1GB DIMM of RAM in my R61 last week. Easy as pie.

Clicking on the arrow next to a menu item didn't expand it?

You'll need to turn off pop-up blockers and have flash installed to watch the videos.
