I'm installing a new hard drive and RAM into my SL400.

First, do nothing. (there's nothing I want to keep on the old HD.)

Second. Pull out the old HD, slip in the new one.

Third. Pull out the RAM and put the new ones in.

Forth. Turn it on with OS disk in the drive and install.

    Finished.

Is that it? Sounds very simple .... 10 mins?

Actually, first I have to find the HD and RAM I guess. Yes, it's true, I don't know what I'm doing. :D

It doesn't really matter which you install first, but I'd probably install the RAM first and test it before swapping the HD.

Give a whirl. You can always pit the old one back in.

Just swap them (I would recommend turning off the computer and removing the battery first). There is no other trick required.

You shouldn't need to change boot priorities either as the old hard drive and new hard drive use the same interface.
