Just got an alert from Windows Defender classifiying Message Centre Plus as an Adware.
More info: http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Entry.aspx?name=Adware:Win32/LenovoMCP&threatid=142655
Is MCP even needed for system update to work? And what does it do besides displaying Lenovo ads? I remembered it was downloaded automatically with the "new" System Update. Anybody here removed MCP and still have a working System Update?

In short. NO it's not needed. I would say it DOES qualify as adware.

Thanks guys, one less bloatware.

Thankfully someone is actually looking out for OFFICIAL Lenovo Trojansand the latest Lenovo debacle/blunder reaffirms Defenders classification. Hopefully this heralds the death knell for this application and Lenovos questionable business practices.

I uninstalled it long ago without any problems whatsoever.
