    Anyone knows if it's possible to under-clock the nVidia Quadro NVS 140M?

    I could not buy a T61 with integrated graphics and 1680x1050 resolution so getting it with the NVS 140M is the only option (excluding the CTO models which are only for US residents).

    The most I'll use the card is for Aero in Vista so if it's possible to under-clock it to save battery it would be great.

    Anyone tried it or have any ideas?

    Thanks!

    yes, use ATI Tool, or nvidia's own Coolbits overclocking tool.

    Does it actually improve battery life.

    Good question! I have the same problem - I want to use the X3100 integrated graphics but I have to get the NVS 140 because I want the higher resolution screen.

    I have no need for fancy graphics so I'd like to underclock the graphics card if I can.

    I relayed your question to my old friend Common Sense, he says yes.

    Coolbits doesn't seem to have settings for over\under-clock on my R61 (Vista)?

    CTO = Configured To Order

    In other words, it wasn't a pre-built model, someone customized it.

    Nvidia's Powermizer will underclock the GPU if you set it Maximum Power Savings in the video card driver settings.

    Anyone try to benchmark the battery life after underclocking? Wondering if it can get close to the x3100 so I don't need to sacrifice 3d performance for the few times I use a game

    So has anyone run a battery benchmark comparing an underclocked Quadro 140m to a x3100 for normal desktop app use? (all other factors on the laptop being the same)

    Thanks

    I'm pretty sure the battery life savings is negligible, especially if you're running Windows XP.

    The powermizer setting doesn't exist in Windows Vista for those who have nVidia cards. I heard that these settings are integrated into Vista's Power Management settings... but where?

    Well tried the registry tweak for coolbits from that link but it still doesnt seem to show any overclock settings in vista.
