    My CPU is T7250

    LENOVO 6459CTO
    Chipset: Intel PM965

Is the maximum supported memory supposed to be 4GB due to the limit of the mother board?

Is T61 compatible with DDR2 800 or PC2-6400s laptop memory?

Intel PM965 chipset supports max 4GB RAM total.

    DDR2 PC2-6400 or DDR2 PC2-5300, max 2GB per slot.

i had 8GB in my T61p nearly three years ago and 8GB in my X61s two years ago.   the PM965/GM965 chipsets absolutely support 4GB+4GB installed.

It's rather easy to spread misinformation when all of the specs for the machines of that chipset say this. The primary reason is because when they shipped, 4GB SoDIMMs weren't yet on the market. So no certification took place. So no specs were updated. Lame, but true.

    I'm using 8G (4x2) in T61p & X61 for a long time already. I think it can be done on T61 too.
