got a t500 that was purchased for business use. it does not have a camera. it is so inconvenient! I am thinking if it is possible to add a camera by myself. please advise.

edit: i did not make it clear. I know I can use a usb camera. but that is not I want. I want buy the built-in camera that the other t500s use and install by myself.

i cant tell you with any certainty, but i am on a T500 with a camera right now, and it surely does NOT look like it would be something that could be added after the fact.

it really looks like it is part of the monitor construct, which wouldnt surprise me, as you often see the webcam as an option dependent on screen selection with different manufacturers

Yes, you can--you have to order both the appropriate webcam part and the screen bezel with the webcam-cutout. Check the T500 Hardware Maintenance Manual for detailed procedures.

MidnightSun is correct. If your tinkering skills are decent, it shouldn't be too difficult once you've got the correct parts and the service manual.
