I have a T520, and like to use while in my bed.
Since the laptop is on my lap most of the time, there are minimal movements from time to time. However, with the airbag protection, the system picks up on these smallest stirs, causing the computer to lag and skip.

I decided to turn it off, to save myself from frustrations, but before I finalize the verdict, I would like to get some feedback from other thinkpad users.

Do you think it's necessary to have the protection running?
or does it not matter as much?

    Thanks

I cannot fathom why one would use a 15.6" laptop in bed; I've tried and it's uncomfortable. It should probably be fine with it turned off, unless you actually drop it or something.

Perhaps you want to set the sensitivity to low. That's what I do and I've never had an issue with it.
