Is flexview screen worth the wait?

After I had ordered a T60 with promotional discounts, I was able to upgrade Thinkpad 11a/b/g/ to 11a/b/g/n for another $30 although the promotion had ended.

Then I realized that I could also opt for the flexview screen. Now a Lenovo rep says that he is not able to upgrade the screen without configuring a whole new system. That means I lose all the discounts I had gotten.

Since I plan on keeping it for at least 3 years with $299 worth of Thinkpad protection and extended warranty service, I will probably regret some day not having gotten the flexview. Therefore, I am seriously thinking of cancelling my order and waiting for the next promotion to configure a T60 with flexview.

Do you think flexview is worth all this trouble?

They said you could order a Flexview on a 14-inch model?

That's a decision only YOU can make...size does matter  , that is an extra 1" to be lugging around and a larger footprint where you will be working. If you work at a desk, then no problem, but if you go to libraries, classrooms, or work on your "lap" then the smaller 14" would be better.

Do you do presentations with it where the view from the side angles is important? Are other people watching off to your side, then Flex is the way to go.

As far as the 14" "regular" screen...I'm sorry, but thousands of ThinkPad users would not buy them if the screen was that bad...at least that's what I'm banking on when mine shows up Monday! :)

The 14-inch screen is fine. I guess some people buy a ThinkPad expecting to get a screen that shows movies like a plasma HDTV or something. As I've posted before, the ThinkPad is a power tool... for work. For college kids who want an entertainment system to watch TV and DVDs on, there are lots of other machines out there. In fact, nearly everything sold in stores falls into that category. I'm grateful that there are options, which is why all this talk about a widescreen T-series (and even phasing out the 4:3) makes me uneasy. Surely Lenovo understands, though...

I would think that the marketing messages sent out by Lenovo vs. (e.g.) Dell and HP are clear enough, but apparently they don't register with everyone.

Waiting would be another option. I suspect they will have this promotion again as they did in August.

Better to wait if you can... the 4Q is the busiest season for computers/laptops.... not a buyer's market

Better deals always come out after new year.

The best time of the year for purchasing is usually the summer back-to-school promotions

I've just cancelled my order because I am not in a hurry to get one. I ordered one in haste to take advantage of the last promotions.

Thank you all for your helping me with your advice.
