As much as I'd like to have an Alienware, right now I don't have the money to afford the brand's laptops :(

I think I will settle for IdeaPad Y580, I'd just like to know before I buy it if there are any better laptops around its price?

Would you recommend it for the newest games?

The Lenovo y580 is definitely the cheapest yet high quality gaming laptop on the market. The GTX660m can play all modern games with ease BUT if you want to spend $1300-$1400, get the Lenovo Y500 with the SLI GT650m for even better graphics and performance which probably will be able to play Crysis 3 on high settings without too much stutter.
